VP Sustainability
Location Canary Wharf

The VP, Sustainability role reports to the Director of Sustainability in the UK and is responsible for a broad portfolio of sustainability issues In particular, this role would help to drive Barclays approach to the energy sector as it relates to climate change, the transition to a low-carbon economy, and associated social factors

Primary responsibilities involve working with internal teams in investment and corporate banking on transactions, driving Barclays support for energy transition, and fostering strategic engagement opportunities with key external stakeholder groups across the public, private and non-profit sectors including the UN, investors, and environmental NGOs

What will you be doing Act as a sustainability expert, providing knowledge and context to ensure appropriate policy is in place, and foster a culture of sustainability across the firm

Provide advice to client-facing teams on sustainability-related issues, including sensitive energy sectors, climate change, and human rights, and represent the team at relevant, internal decision-making fora

Develop and refresh public statements on key sustainability issues such as Energy and Climate Change, by partnering with business leaders as well as external thought leaders

Engage with investors, clients, regulators and NGOs on sustainability issues and opportunities relevant to banking/financial services, and Barclays specifically

Occasionally represent Barclays at key external forums to share best practice and demonstrate the leadership role that the company plays in society

Lead strategic projects as and when they arise, providing insight and engaging with external and internal teams

Preparing and contributing to various investment committees within the Bank

What were looking for Experience in energy financing and/or sustainability issues and their relevance to financial services and banking, in particular climate change and the role of the industry in the transition to a low carbon economy

Educated to degree level (or equivalent)

Demonstrable commercial acumen and impressive business knowledge

Comfortable with opining and challenging on complex issues, including with senior audiences

Experience of managing large, multi-team projects

Skills that will help you in the role Previous experience of working in-house within a large, global organisation

Masters in a Sustainability or Finance related subject

Experience of policy development and training
