Position Overview The Department Chief will participate on a multi-functional team that has responsibilities for full life cycle management of Video, Wireless and Prognostics & Health Management (PHM) products This position is for a recognized engineering master who leads the development and implementation of preferred work methods, best design/development and verification/validation practices and provides technical support and guidance to the department while exhibiting expertise in one or more discipline focal areas

Responsibilities

This role will interface with all levels of Engineering and support functions, as well as customers, vendors and other participants and stakeholders, in matters of technical expertise relative to vision and connectivity systems and products This role will also contribute in the following ways at a minimum

Be a recognized technical expert in engineering discipline topics and product line aspects
Support the design and development of complex engineering systems over their life cycles
Guide, develop and ensure that best practices in the design, development, verification and validation of products are followed
Support key strategic efforts across the prescribed product families
Recommend investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the departments projects
Establish plans and strategies for product life cycle methods
Advise/provide expertise in the decomposition of customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and make recommendations for the generation of verification criteria and plans for the requirements
Advise/perform analyses at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
Advise/perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and support effectiveness analyses for total systems
Support troubleshooting and RRCA proceedings including corrective action board activities
Organize and preside over design reviews and standard process proceedings
Exhibit excellent problem solving skills as well as keen analytical abilities
Possess strong leadership qualities, as well as excellent communication skills
Able to negotiate with team members
Develop and maintain an understanding of new technologies and cutting edge methods relative to product line aspects

Basic Qualifications
Extensive experience in vision systems, wireless solutions and/or PHM initiatives is strongly desired This position requires a minimum of a bachelors degree in a core engineering or physics related discipline and 10 years of aerospace or equivalent experience An advanced degree is a plus A multi-discipline background is beneficial
