ValueScience Center (VSC) is the dedicated knowledge arm for our Corporate Finance and Strategy (CFS) Practice Area which combines rich expertise in Corporate Strategy concepts with a management methodology designed to create sustainable value-add for BCG clients VSC team is spread across several locations across the globe and provides extensive experience in value acceleration ie shareholder value maximization, shareholder activism, corporate and portfolio strategy related topics We deliver analytical approaches that allow senior management to effectively deal with challenges such as generating growth, managing a portfolio of assets, forming a world-class finance organization, understanding risk, and responding to the way capital markets assess companies today

We are seeking to recruit an experienced professional at a Knowledge Expert level to lead our VSC India team focused on Corporate Strategy and Value Acceleration topic Candidates that are experienced in leading teams and worked in a finance/relevant knowledge/analytics leadership position as well as demonstrated international exposure are preferred Applicants should offer expertise in advanced modelling skills, in-depth financial analyses such as capital markets perspective, profitability, capital structure, liquidity, and cash flow performance Knowing how to generate relative valuation benchmarks, perform discounted cash- flow calculations, and validate valuation approaches prepared by others is expected from successful applicants The ability to properly quantify and articulate value of an asset from a strategic perspective is essential Strategic thinking paired with business judgment and drive for pragmatic implementation is also a must in this role Advanced understanding of nuances related to corporate finance analysis, strong excel/modelling/macro writing skills are a strong plus


- Collaborate with business leaders, expert consultants and VSC colleagues in all global hubs to develop and deliver proprietary data, tools and analytics Manage team (directly and indirectly) to ensure high quality products and applications

- Lead India VSC team covering Corporate Strategy and Value Acceleration topic and own specific products and activities

- Play an active role in recruitment and on-boarding according to business needs

- Manage scope, workflow, activities, and output of the team

- Manage ad hoc requests from BCG client and proposal teams, assigning them to appropriate team member to deliver on need and ensuring high quality responses

- Work with key stakeholders on productizing knowledge efforts; provide insights on process and methodology

- Provide coaching and guidance to team Cater for long-term professional development of team members Evaluates performance and develops career development plans for the team

- Manages and commercializes practice knowledge initiatives, products and service in close collaboration with topic teams

- Contributes substantially to development of knowledge initiatives, products (eg benchmarking) and intellectual capital development projects

- Captures proprietary content, industry and topic insights to the knowledge infrastructure

- Identifies topic gaps and suggests knowledge initiatives to management

- Influences the shaping and direction of CFS Practices own knowledge agenda

- Other ad hoc analytical, data and research tasks Manage the team to work with CFS Practice leads to deliver on BCG client team requests

- Play an Expert role on internal and external projects Shape project plans through own expertise and thinking

- Support client teams with ad hoc financial research and analysis - particularly those requiring deeper expertise

- Take lead on defining and executing financial analyses that will be leveraged by case teams and clients

- Over time develops deep expertise in BCGs CFS proprietary offerings to assume increased intellectual ownership of selected topics within the BCG expert network

- Inserts oneself into business

- Leads knowledge team proposal and engagement work

- Applies expert knowledge to satisfy complex client demands

- Plays a lead role in proposal process to clients through expertise

- Shares commercially relevant topic expertise with consulting teams to support client work

- Writes large portions of proposal documents

- Provides institutionalized knowledge

- Over time manage the insourcing of additional financial analytics offerings and products


- Masters degree with high academic achievements in business administration, majors in corporate finance, accounting, auditing, tax or other relevant subjects Other degree areas will be considered in combination with a related MBA or sufficient topic expertise and experience

- At least 10 years of relevant experience; consulting experience preferred

- M&A, corporate development, corporate finance, deal advisory, CFO advisory or other equivalent areas (10+ years)

- Relevant experience building and managing analytical/ benchmarking/ tools products (3-4+ years)

- Demonstrated international exposure (+ 5 years)

- Strong analytical capabilities - financial and operational data, data management and manipulation

- Superior problem solving skills

- Strong knowledge of and affinity for database and analytical tool management

- Strong ability to work with multiple clients in a fast-paced environment, prioritize requests and manage expectations of clients

- Collaborative team manager with strong leadership and coaching skills, work ethics and service-mentality with experience of working in a matrix organization

- Strong presence, interpersonal, leadership and credibility skills with business sensibility

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English


The Knowledge Expert, Team Manager will

- Regularly partner closely with senior business leaders, expert consultants and CFS Knowledge colleagues in all global CFS hubs to develop and own end-to-end proprietary data, tools & analytics core to CFS commercial offerings (eg codifying proprietary methodology into tools, etc) - including setting the mandate for development of these assets and deploying directly with project teams

- Directly manage a team of analysts and and work with subject matter experts in delivering these offerings to client teams around the world This includes deploying and managing team members Also, closely coordinate with BCGs Product Business Unit (PBU) team as needed for technical advancement of offerings

- Play an important part in contributing to internal knowledge building in form of in-house projects and assist topic leaders for reports covering Corporate Finance and Strategy topics (like Value Acceleration, Shareholder Activism, Corporate and Portfolio strategy etc)

- Broadly own and evolve BCGs perspective on best-in-class research, and our arsenal of tools, techniques and partners to help deliver at that standard

- Over time Knowledge Experts are asked to help coach individual consultants or entire teams to get up to speed in all sorts of corporate finance and strategy issues and act as an expert for client teams seeking topical support
