Position Technician I, Production (Kiefel)

Shift 8th (7am-7pm)

Cleans, sanitizes and monitors equipment related to assembly, machinery, processing and/or packaging for all local manufacturing operations Sets up and operates automatic or semiautomatic machines and related equipment in a continuous production/processing operation Monitors meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and/or related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production/process specifications Responsible for executing all processes in production while strictly adhering to cGMP, SOPs, environmental health and safety guidelines and any other related regulations which could apply Reports any malfunctions or abnormalities and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures

Position Summary

The Kiefel Production Technician is a Salary Non-Exempt position which contributes to our mission of saving and sustaining lives by supplying, operating and maintaining a set of Kiefel Machines in addition to inspecting and performing quality checks on the finished bags as necessary Kiefel Production Technician will be the primary resource for identifying and correcting any maintenance issues on the Kiefel

Essential Job Duties

Cleans and sanitizes manufacturing and associated support areas

- Monitors department equipment for proper operation

- May provide support to manufacturing operators including decisions on product acceptability

- May assist in the training of new employees

- May perform safety inspections or observations

- Receives and stocks production supplies

- Operate, monitor and make adjustments as necessary to a Kiefel machine using controls on an electrical control panel (HMI) or by making manual adjustments

- Load and replenish production supplies (ie injection sites, tubing, PVC/Non-PVC roll stock and adhesive) at a rate consistent with production needs

- Take a leadership role in generating ideas in process improvements to equipment

- Perform routine and preventative maintenance such as alignment adjustments, replacement of machine parts or belts, cleaning and lubrication while supporting Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)

- Document completed maintenance activity and follow up work orders in Maximo

- Perform scheduled quality checks, disposition product, identify any deviations that may occur and take the appropriate action to include stopping production on the machine if necessary

- Inspect finished product and ensure that the quality standards have been met

- Load and secure finished product in mobile closets

- Execute a machine changeover when necessary

- Document required information on manufacturing logs and/or POMS system

- Investigate, identify and correct or escalate any inefficiency in the machines performance

- Test, inspect and package Inter-Plant Shipping Orders (IPSO)

- Perform and document scheduled cleaning activities

- Notify the supervisor and take appropriate action if any safety, quality, mechanical or discrepancy issues occur

- Learn, understand and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)

- Take a leadership role in sustaining a clean and safe work area using 6S principles including maintaining and securing provided tools

- Conduct on the job training for Kiefel Production Technicians and Kiefel Operators

- Lead and coach Kiefel operators to ensure key metrics are being met

Work Environment

- In a Class II Controlled Environment which includes the following dress/gowning requirements safety glasses or goggles, ear plugs, hairnet, beard cover, gown, shoe covers and gloves (additional PPE required when cleaning)

- Constant or intermittent exposure to elevated levels of noise

- Involves working around equipment and powerful machinery

- Requires occasionally working with chemical cleaners and disinfectants

Required Qualifications

Physical Requirements

- Ability to push/pull/lift up to 74 pounds as needed during installation of port seal/main seal dies in order to perform Kiefel changeovers

- Stand/walk continuously throughout the shift

- Normal visual acuity is necessary

- Must be able to squat, climb, reach above shoulder level, reach at or below shoulder level, kneel, twist and bend at the neck, twist and bend at the waist and balance
