Alation was founded in 2012 when a PhD engineer from Google, a designer from Apple, and an executive from Oracle teamed up to help people to find, understand, and trust the data they use Today, our team consists of creators and communicators with varied backgrounds From Stanford, Berkeley, and IITs, from big companies and small startups, from all over the world, we all came together to work toward a shared vision of a world where informed decision-making is the norm -- we are incredibly driven to make data more accessible in every industry We are head-quartered in Redwood City, CA and funded by top investors like Andreessen Horowitz, Data Collective, General Catalyst Partners and Costanoa Venture Capital Our customers include some of the worlds largest organizations, with thousands of employees and petabytes of data We are now building a technical support engineering team in Chennai, India As the technical support manager, you will be helping customers integrate with the Alation product, providing advanced level support on technical issues with the product, and for improving the Alation knowledge base You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and customers to improve the quality of the product You will both solve technical problems and develop collaborative relationships with our customers, who are some of the most advanced analytics teams in the world Responsibilities Manage the technical support team Own process for technical customer issue resolution (issue triage, diagnosis, fix tracking) Develop technical product documentation for engineering and data analyst users Support customer success with specialized product knowledge Advocate for customers in engineering roadmap planning Diagnose and correct problems in new customer deployment Required Candidate profileRequirementsMotivate and manage a technical support engineering teamMeet stringent SLAs for customer ticket resolution Experience working with web APIsStrong technical communication skillsAbility to drive projects independentlyLinux troubleshooting skillsKnowledge of SQLBig data industry knowledgeCustomer focusInfluence stakeholders across time zones and geographies to raise continuously the bar of quality, timeliness and innovation
