Manufacturing Industry Futures Autodesk
A Technical Leader is required to join our rapidly growing Manufacturing Industry Futures team (a division of Autodesk Research), a world leader in Innovation and Research into the Future of Design, Simulation and ManufacturingOur objective is to research new applications, workflows, processes and converge industries to make better products and compress the end-to-end product lifecycle, which in turn reduces waste, reduces costs and time to marketWe exploit technologies such as Generative Design, Additive Manufacturing, Systems Automation, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, to create innovative solutions for industry through applied research and early adoption
Position Overview
Based from our Cambridge Office in the UK, you will be managing a team to innovate new solutions in the Automation of Manufacturing Systems In particular, you will be focused on the research and development of autonomous manufacturing systems using artificial intelligence and machine learning

Effectively lead, inspire and drive a high performing team to achieve successful outcomes
Provide thought leadership in the Future of Manufacturing both internally and externally
Manage tasks, liaise with customers and internal stakeholders
Project management, resource management and technical governance
Regular reporting to senior management on status of project and estimated time to completion
Execute tasks on consulting projects pertinent to the Future of Manufacturing
Investigate new methods and techniques to automate workflows and processes to reduce manufacturing time and increase quality
Assist with conceptual and engineering design tasks using Autodesk Design Suite
Assist with various simulation tasks using FEA, CFD, Optimisation and other numerical solutions
Assist with research projects in Generative Design, Additive Manufacturing and Materials Testing
Develop robotic systems for automation tasks (including programming, building and integration)
Regular travel to Autodesk offices in Birmingham and London

Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
Must have extensive industrial or academic research experience in the field of Manufacturing Systems
Extensive knowledge of Mechanical Design, CAD, Additive Manufacturing and Simulation Techniques
Full driving licence
