Job Description:

- Tata Trusts Parag initiative (https//wwwparagreadsin/) focuses on promoting reading for pleasure through development and use of childrens books in Indian languages Parag works to support development of quality books, build capacity of authors, illustrators and teachers/librarians, setting up vibrant libraries etc Library Educators Course (LEC) is a 7-month blended course for teachers / librarians / educators to help them develop understanding, perspective and skills of setting up and running vibrant libraries that create lifelong interest in reading for pleasure Parag is looking for an experienced and committed resource to lead the Library Educators Course and also lead the capacity building work under the initiative

- Serve as the Lead faculty for Library Educators Course, oversee implementation and strategic direction for the course This includes leading implementation of LEC Hindi course offered annually in a blended format

- Sustain the quality of the course throughout the course cycle ensuring content refreshment and delivery of sessions and mentoring

- Lead 3 contact sessions, 2 distance sessions Enable other faculty members towards pro-active engagement with the course and give it the required momentum and direction

- Plan for capacity building of self and other faculty and mentors

- Monitor course progress on all its components

- Pilot and oversee the implementation of a short library course with 1 state government and draw upon its learning to inform further work and advocacy

- Develop Parags Capacity building vertical - Support teams in different states by planning and implementing Library Trainings and consulting for better field level roll-out of trainings

- Develop a cadre of master trainers and build on them as a resource group for promoting library work

- Device ways of capturing short-term and long term impact of professional development work

- Develop self through regular field practice and writing -- Publish reflective writing pieces and undertake Library practice

- Contribute to any other work of Parag including conferences and workshops

- Work with library and book development verticals of Parag and build mutual synergy

Experience

- Minimum 10 years of work experience in the education sector with core expertise around childrens libraries, curriculum development, planning and implementing teacher professional development around literacy and literature, preferably in government school settings

Qualification

- Masters degree in Education or allied fields with a strong interest in promoting reading amongst children

Knowledge

- Strong understanding of elementary education, role of libraries, reading pedagogies, contemporary childrens literature and teacher education

- Understanding and hold over Hindi childrens literature

- Education policy and state systems

Skills/ Competencies

- Strong bilingual skills in Hindi and English languages (knowledge of any other language would be an advantage)

- Ability to build strategy keeping the organisational goals in mind

- Strong management skills to manage teams and work with diverse group

- Ability to work independently and in teams

- Problem solving attitude and ability to multi task

- Understanding of training, curriculum and module development methods

- Taking initiative and strong interest in grooming young educators and teachers

Compensation Will be commensurate with experience and skills
