About the Colleague Identity, Access Management & Service Desk team

The team operates within the Technology Security division, seeking to reduce technical risk that we face as an organisation through our management of colleague accounts & access There is a large focus on using the technology that the team is building to increase the efficiency of managing accounts for 450,000 colleagues across the Tesco Group

The team is made up of Product Managers and System Engineers working out of the UK and India who are working to identify, develop & rollout improvements to our systems In the past year, weve rolled out a leavers process for managing Active Directory accounts based on HR data, delivered a new method for managing non-Tesco employees who hold Tesco accounts and have developed an automated joiners process which will be rolling out across the globe this year

The Role Systems Engineering Manager

Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business, the following provides an overview of the roles key responsibilities and measures

Lead on the development & support/operations of the product; act as part of the scrum team day-to-day

Act as an escalation point for technical solution questions from the team; drive best practice in solution design & ensure these are documented appropriately

Line manage team members and act as a technical mentor

Develop ways of working within the team to ensure continuous improvement of system engineering practices for example, test automation

Identify skills gaps within the team and identify appropriate technical training courses

Drive the definition of done for the engineering scrum teams over time, ensure smooth running of Sprint Retrospectives & foster an open, honest and constructive environment in the engineering team

Feedback & prioritise tech debt & refactoring work to Product Management

Identify and encourage automation of repetitive tasks carried out by the team

Identify & advise on product upgrades with Product Management; manage the process of upgrading the product

Own the test library for the Product and ensure it remains relevant over time

Key Skills and Experience

Youll need to have demonstrated experience of

Working as part of an Identity and Access Management implementation project within a complex business environment, preferably with a global scope

Experience with RSA L&G preferred; 5 years experience of integrating Identity & Access Management products with enterprise applications on-premise and in the cloud a must

3 years experience Java, SQL, Python

3 years experience of managing support for business-critical high availability applications (Wildfly experience preferred); experience of implementing monitoring through synthetics, real user monitoring, server-side monitoring and Splunk (monitoring and dashboarding)

3 years experience working within a scrum team to deliver change quickly at a global scale

Experience of implementing and maintaining test automation

Experience working with multiple technical teams to deliver new features
