Description of Job Duties

Datacenter 40 PERCENT

Responsible for day-to-day hands-on operations of Windows, VMWare, LINUX server and SAN technologies
Duties include installation, management, upgrade, monitoring, troubleshooting of the O/S and virtualized server environments Additionally, candidate will be responsible for backup and restore operations as needed and will collaborate with the Applications, Database, Network and other support teams as required Will be involved in server/storage capacity management and reporting as well as disaster recovery operations activities
Providing a solid understanding both technically and functionally of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, ADFS, LDAPS, Office365, G Suite, and Group Policy in a Windows Server environment
Delivering hands-on expertise in Windows server management in a datacenter environment (2008, 2012, 2016 and 2019 Servers) including an ability to develop and maintain PowerShell and/or VB scripts
Hands-on VMware administration including virtual server management, template building, monitoring and design Must be familiar with VMware vSphere/VCenter 5x & 6x environments, VMWare View 75, and SAN technologies; iSCSI and Fiber Channel
Utilizing network/datacenter monitoring tools to analyze network, server, and storage devices, maintain up-time, generate usage reports, and spot trends Escalate issues with broader implications for entire environment to the Technical Services Director
Creating and maintaining documentation and diagrams (Visio) as needed when assets are added, updated, or removed
Connectivity troubleshooting for desktops, servers, and basic network issues
Installs and tests necessary software and hardware Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work will occasionally require after hours and weekend work
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, system log files, technical procedures, or governmental regulations Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in English using proper grammar and spelling
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Perform other related duties as assigned

Desktop Support 60 PERCENT

Troubleshoot a broad range of Windows and Apple hardware and software
Supporting computers and peripherals in a networked, domain joined environment
Supporting Office 365
Personal ticket queue management, prioritizing support tickets as needed
Mentoring, training and escalation point for Jr technicians
Development and maintenance of training materials
Assist with a variety of projects
Collaborates with other team members to identify and implement process improvements
Active Directory users, computers and printer object management
Completes, maintains, and processes pertinent paperwork and records
Keeps abreast of industry trends and issues
Work hours may include night, weekends, and holidays
Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience

Hands-on Windows Server Administration (2008, 2012, 2016, 2019)
Hands-on VMWare vSphere 5x, 6x, VMWare View 75
Enterprise Anti-virus Deployment (AVG, McAfee, Symantec, Windows)
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Microsoft SQL Server Management
Office365 /Azure Cloud
DNS
DHCP
TCP/IP
PowerShell and/or VB Script Programming
SPAM firewalls
Anti-spyware
Microsoft Active Directory and Global Policy Management
Basic LINUX Server Management (Red Hat preferred)

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Ability to position self to maintain equipment in various locations, including under desks
Ability to transverse to various locations throughout the College

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
2 years of related work experience
Excellent customer service skills
Previous experience with a service desk platform (Service Now)
General understanding of networking principles/troubleshooting
Advanced knowledge troubleshooting Windows and Apple computers (both hardware and software)
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Ability to position self to maintain equipment in various locations,
Ability to move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs to locations throughout the College
Reliable transportation occasional travel to other Lenoir-Rhyne University Campuses is required
Experience in a higher education environment
Familiarity with ITIL
