Providing fibre network architecture recommendations for approval by CEO & Exec board with business impact of 10ms - bns
Working in collaboration with various stakeholders to evaluate total cost for proposed network architecture strategies and communicate them to senior management teams
Subject matter expert on network technology to inform industry consultations, CP, government and regulatory engagements
Regular engagement with suppliers and global operators to drive innovation and best practice when developing innovative fibre network build strategies

What youll be doing

Responsible for new fibre network architecture build for FFTP, New Sites, BDUK and Carrier Grade Ethernet This includes identification of technology and innovation used within the specific geographical area and proposal of strategic fibre network build plans to deliver new transformational network solutions and broader coverage The ultimate sign off sits with Senior Network Architect and TDA
Accountable for the development of new innovative fibre network build strategies for specific geographical area by using expert computing science and analysis with market, technology and commercials to provide quantified evaluations of return for investment when building FFTP, New Sites, BDUK and Carrier Grade Ethernet
Accountable for creating strategic new fibre network deployment plans and proposing them to senior management teams for ultimate sign off
Contributing to Openreach strategic priorities for engineering innovation influencing strategy, policies, standards and processes
Representing Openreach in regional commercial modelling, research and global standards forums
Analysing customer requirements (for FFTP, New Sites, BDUK and Carrier Grade Ethernet build) and incorporating them into strategic network build proposals
Working in collaboration with CCP for the development of compelling propositions for network improvement and business opportunities for strategic deployment and product development within specific geographical area

Key decisions

Multiple stakeholder management up to MD/Director level from LoBs, suppliers, global network operators to capture requirements and agree engineering solutions
Ability to engage with internal and external suppliers when designing plans for fibre network build
Ability to communicate complex information in a simple way
Producing regular reports and analysis to senior management teams
Able to adjust communication style to engage with the audience effectively
Able to advise and coach others on complex engineering innovations and strategic network build projects

Technically competent in understanding networks copper, fibre and mobile and the connectivity options
Strong understanding of FTTP and deployment operations across Openreach
Expert knowledge and understanding of Openreach products and specifically engineering innovations, tools and techniques
Strategic insight and knowledge of global operators networks
Subject matter expert by Openreach and wider business/external community
In depth understanding of fibre networks and benchmark components, tools and best practices
Detailed knowledge of techno-economic modelling and experience in strategic network deployment
In-depth understanding of the UK telecoms market trends and regulatory framework set by Ofcom

Experience you would be expected to have

Detailed component level understanding of Openreach network design and dimensioning
Expert knowledge of fibre network planning and build
Detailed understanding of technology introduction process and consumption/launch by FND and SD
An expert in their field with experience of, and credibility in, engaging with industry on engineering innovation
Experience of mitigating risks, implanting best practice and following strict governance procedures
Strong knowledge and understanding of Openreachs network and the products used to connect our customers
Understanding of CP current and future product propositions and requirements
Experience of network plan and build operational processes and systems
