What you will do

As a Staff Engineer, Materials Science, you will work closely with Quality Assurance, suppliers, Advanced Operations, Product Development and other cross-functional teams to build and establish Metal Injection Molding (MIM) technology and processes in our Mahwah, NJ manufacturing plant

You will provide manufacturing engineering leadership, mentoring and the ability to head up multiple complex projects within manufacturing operations and develop skills to become a subject matter expert on Metal Injection Molding (MIM)

Specific responsibilities include

Participate in PFMEA, Control Plan, SOP and PPAP generation associated with product transfers
Analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests and results analysis; lead and/or participate in process review meetings
Work with Advanced Operations in relations to Process Validation, Gauge Design & Inspection, Inspection Methodology and DFM
Support remediation activities for new technology transfers
Develop and manage project timelines within a cross-functional team; effectively communicate project status with all team members, customers and leadership as necessary
Define & implement specific solutions to technical problems, completing the tasks associated with such projects and writing reports that clearly document the results
Work closely with Operations, Engineering Services, and Quality to resolve new technology transfer quality problems using established problem solving methodologies
Lead and participate in the development and improvement of the manufacturing process for existing and new products
Review & approve inspection plans, routers and product drawings
Facilitate quality remediation, gap closure through partnership with cell Quality Engineer
Participate in development, review & approval process and equipment validation/qualifications
Interface with suppliers for new/existing processes, quality issues and process improvements for assigned projects
Act as subject matter expert for new technologies (MIM)
Review and approve nonconforming material and system documentation

What you need

A Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Metallurgical, Materials, Industrial or similar) and a minimum of 5 years of Materials Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is required
Metal Injection Molding (MIM) experience is highly preferred
Experience working in a highly regulated industry (eg aerospace, automotive, medical device, etc) is highly preferred
Demonstrated proficiency in reading engineering drawings, tolerances and GD&T
Demonstrated analytical skills with problem solving and process and continuous improvement orientation; knowledge of Lean tools (ie Six Sigma)
Demonstrated communication (written & verbal), presentation, partnership and influencing skills
Proven ability to effectively work in a fast paced, dynamic and results oriented team environment
Working knowledge of quality tools such as failure modes effect analysis (FMEA), root cause analysis, mistake proofing and Poke-Yoke
Demonstrated understanding of overall equipment effectives and preventative maintenance programs
Good understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), related statistical tools and validation/verification techniques
Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, product and process design
Working knowledge/experience with risk based and statistical techniques (process risk, statistical sampling plans, process capabilities, gauge R&Rs)
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, provide leadership within a cross-functional project team and mentor more junior engineers
