Jacobs National Security Solutions (NSS) is looking for a Senior-Level Technical Writer to provide onsite and offsite support in Washington, DC/Reston, VA (100 PERCENT ) The Technical Writer will support the Cybersecurity program of a mission-critical, federal financial student lending agency by drafting and editing security documentation The Technical Writer will work with a team of security analysts, engineers, architects, and other security professionals who contribute to the development of mission-critical security and privacy-related documentation

Duties will include

Develop original content and update existing content including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Concept of Operations (CONOPS), strategic plans, checklists, use cases, job aids, document templates, cybersecurity guidance, etc

Organize and prepare documentation for publication; review technical information prepared by other team members or clients for clarity and content

Assist in the development of a document management system for use by Cybersecurity team or support the maintenance of an existing documentation library

Manage change control of all documentation

Support document quality assurance for the Cybersecurity Team including creating, reviewing, editing, and tracking documentation

Solicit input from client and Jacobs technical staff; documenting their processes in plain language using Standard English composition

As needed, moderate client meetings to collect requirements for and feedback on documents

Support ad hoc and rapid turnaround requests from internal and external clients, including requests for audit remediation evidence


BA or BS degree in the appropriate discipline from an accredited college or university, plus six (6) to nine (9) years of progressive and relevant experience Additional relevant education may be substituted for progressive experience

Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word and Visio

Strong technical skills and problem-solving skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; impeccable grammar

Ability to express complex technical information in plain language

Experience with content management software and/or processes preferred Microsoft SharePoint experience is a plus

Attention to detail with good follow-up skills

Flexible yet focused collaboration with extended network of teams and stakeholders

Able to follow style guidelines and departmental processes

Excellent team player who can work on complex topics

Ability to understand business needs and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to learn about and write to new technical, IT, or cybersecurity topics

Client-facing experience, particularly in soliciting input or feedback from clients and moderating client meetings Consulting experience is a plus

Self-starter and problem solver

At least 1 year of federal government consulting experience

Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills

Ability to complete multiple tasks and high volume of work

Mature, professional attitude and appearance

Ability to adapt to change and remain flexible

Openness to continuing learning and upgrading of skills

Ability to think things through and see the bigger picture

General Office environment The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers Multiple tasks & duties will need to be accomplished without any single duty falling behind or becoming neglected Must effectively communicate and be communicated with by other team members Must be able to represent and speak to current group efforts at any given time

General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment


Attendance is critical at all times Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur
