Role Overview
This position is for a Senior Systems Engineer on the Advanced Systems team in the Military Avionics and Helecopters (MA&H) Advanced organization The Advanced Systems team is a research and development group responsible for supporting the maturation of key emerging technologies and differentiators required to position Rockwell Collins for both current and future growth opportunities; supporting our military and their partners This includes, but is not limited to, advancements in next generation Human Machine Interface (HMI), helmet mounted displays, flight management systems, communications management and vehicle control, personal electronic devices, as well as, model based engineering processes, tools, techniques, formal methods analysis, cyber security and Open Systems development The Sr Systems Engineer will support Future Mission Capabilities projects including Flight Autonomy, Mission Autonomy, and Survivability & SA Solutions The ideal candidate understands the competitive landscape and contributes to strategic technology plans based on the companys competitive positions The candidate may serve as technical leader for development and integration activities for highly strategic development project teams The candidate may also support pursuit teams and development of technical proposals

Primary Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain technology roadmaps with internal and external stakeholders

- Execute technical investigations and evaluations

- Support early stage design activities

- Generate designs, ConOps, and requirements for next generation flight decks and operator stations

- Demonstrate feature prototypes to internal and external customers


- Experience with military avionics systems

- Experience with software system design

- Experience with new or novel execution and implementation techniques and processes

- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment, excellent interpersonal skills and proactive problem-solving abilities

- Must be a self-starter, be able to multi-task, and take advantage of opportunities and events to achieve results

- Maintain and active interest in study, learning, and continuous self-development

- Experience with design, requirements capture, development, and integration of complex military avionics software systems

- Experience with DoD open systems architecture and protocols (FACE, JCA, HOST, etc)

- Experience with cyber security - Experience with avionics development processes such as (ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-254, DO-178)

- Experience with systems/software modeling languages (SysML, UML, AADL, or equivalent)

- Experience with visual modeling and design tools (Enterprise Architect or equivalent)

Basic Qualifications
This position requires a Bachelors degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
