Role

The production services / application management (AM) Senior Analyst is primarily responsible for ensuring that production/live Services under the teams support remit are available for customers (both internal & external)

The senior analyst needs to ensure availability of the applications as per agreed SLAs or requirements by taking a lead in resolving issues and restoring application availability during all incidents/problems Developing processes to monitor risks & resolve issues and he/she will be responsible for timely escalation of issues that require attention from the respective business and technology stakeholders

He/She is expected to contribute to recovery events and provide extended support The resource will need to help build a satisfied customer base by providing timely responses to complex user queries through prompt and effective communication

Senior Analyst is expected to achieve a more productive support environment by leading process evaluation, suggesting and implementing solutions which will enhance application efficiency This will span across automation and performance improvisation themes

He/She needs to help build a highly capable team by mentoring team members on technology and processes to help enhance their skill-set and effectiveness

Senior Analyst is responsible to fulfil business continuity requirements by driving and implementing disaster recovery exercises

What the Business Does

RBS is a UK centric bank with businesses spanning across the UK and Western Europe geographies Application Support is a technology division responsible for keeping live services up and running on all business days thru the year These services are essential for business to undertake their daily operations which does have a significant customer outcome

Primary responsibility of an AM resource is to ensure application availability for business teams as per agreed SLAs The resource will need to provide technical and functional support to the live platform and business community The technical support will cater to managing a set of applications hosted on the Windows and Unix servers

Responsibilities

Provide desk support in different shifts as per requirement Primary shift will be UK shift

Provide on-call support as required

Do operational performance statistics reporting, and carry out Incident/problem resolution activities

Expected to provide guidance/help to team members on RBS support processes/protocols

Handle day-to-day technical and functional queries and support release management via change deliveries

Manage and help resolve platform incidents with the 03rd party vendor and drive them to timely closure

Liaise with relevant stakeholders, platform, service delivery, upstream and downstream consumers - ensuring seamless running of the support offering

Provide training as and when required on relevant technical subjects

Skills Essential

Educational Qualification BE / B Tech / MCA / or Equivalent

Minimum 8 years of experience in production support and/or development projects with specific focus on technology and credentials from the banking domain

Hands on knowledge of major technologies

Should be multi-skilled Must have excellent knowledge on Windows and Unix operating systems, Oracle database, languages SQL/PLSQL, job schedulers Autosys and application monitoring tools

Working knowledge of application servers like Tomcat

Strong understanding of ITIL concepts, technology incident and change management processes

Niche analysis skills surrounding complex stored procedures/packages for debugging data issues

Understanding of application Interfaces and batch processing, logging and monitoring etc

Proven analytical skills and the ability to effectively liaise with stakeholders

Excellent command in English both spoken and written
