Role SummaryThe Sr Data Engineer is responsible for developing state-of-the-art data and analytics driven solutions for a multi-year cybersecurity initiative that spans across GE company You will be part of a cross-discipline/cross-business team representing cyber experts, engineers, functional leaders You will be hands-on and collaborate across GE to deliver best in class Cybersecurity Analytics, leveraging client and big data technologies
Essential Responsibilities The Sr Data Engineer is responsible for designing and developing analytics needed to drive transparency and auditability towards progress in delivering committed outcomes on a multi-generational plan
Responsible for defining, developing, and evolving data visualization related tasks using the latest development methods and infrastructure
Develop analytics that meet streamlined user experience and caters to executive and operational decision making
Integrate different data sources, work with various architectures and be key person for ETL related topics
Able to grasp the essence of large data sets Act as subject expert on best ways to transfer and represent information so that its relevant, simple and to the point
Implement Data warehouse & Big/Small data designs with data quality capabilities
Demonstrate proficiency at industry standard data modeling tools and MDM capabilities
Integrate domain data knowledge into development of data requirements
Look across multiple systems, understands the purpose of each system and defines data requirements by systems
Identify downstream implications of data loads/migration (eg, data quality, regulatory, etc)
Collaborate with data architects, frontend developers and business analysts to implement solutions that are aligned with our stakeholders and our own strategic directions
Qualifications/Requirements Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent (STEM)
Minimum 5 years of experience as data engineer
Desired Characteristics Experience with visualization tools as Tableau, Spotfire, SiSense
Experience using Hadoop ecosystem, Map-Reduce, Spark, NoSQL (HBase, MongoDB etc), Cassandra
Experience using Scripting (Pig, Python, Perl, etc)
Experience with Core Java, Java WebServices development SOAP, REST APIs
Experience working on Database(s), SQL is required Communicates in a clear and succinct manner
Experience with ETL, orchestration data cataloguing tools & procedures (eg Talend, Postgresql, Alation)
Experience working in AWS environment with native AWS tech
Experience with version control (eg SVN, git) and continuous integration (eg Jenkins, TeamCity) tools
Experience and understanding of how to optimize service data and visualization for size or speed
Strong in Debugging and Troubleshooting abilities
Good communication skills (written and spoken)
Positive, can do attitude
Flexibility, team player & sense of ownership
Experience working in Agile engineering environment
Ability to travel as needed
