We are building a brand-new set of services in the DevOps space, and looking to hire strong leadership to help oversee the development and operations of these services

Responsibilities

As the engineering leader of services in the DevOps space, you will lead development teams in building and operating intelligent, resilient and scalable multi-tenant cloud services In doing so you will

Own staffing up development teams

Help define and refine the vision for our opportunities in the DevOps space, through close engagement with Product Mgmt and customers

Help clarify the product/service definition for each of the individual offerings through close engagement with Product Management

Drive clear execution plans

Drive the scrum processes and the operational practices of the team to effectively support production cloud services

Oversee team engagement with the Oracle cloud infrastructure platform and shared services teams to ensure seamless integration with those services

Engage with the platform and corporate architecture and security teams to ensure the service abides by the necessary standards and architecture patterns in terms of the cloud service overall architecture including high availability, disaster recovery, multi-tenancy management, replication etc

Provide guidance and support to engineers in the team

Follow a data driven approach in defining and measuring platform/operational success

Participate in production support and operations planning/hardening

Imbibe the Oracle cloud infrastructure and corporate values in action and spirit

Desired Skills and Experience

10 years of experience in software development

5 years of experience in engineering management and leadership

Experience in software design and coding in a modern programming language like Java

Experience developing distributed systems and strong familiarity with building for cloud scale, reliability and performance

Experience building cloud native services, with expertise around operational rigor expectations for cloud providers

Experience with agile software development methodologies, continuous integration, and continuous deployment

Naturally effective written and verbal communicator

BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical field

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc

As a director of the software engineering division, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision future improvements to the architecture

Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations Demonstrated leadership and people management skills Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area 7 years of software engineering or related experience
