The Oracle Applications Cloud Information Development team comprises 200 technical writers and curriculum developers who benefit from a cool set of internal reporting, analytics, and scheduling apps that help them manage their work

We are looking for someone to help develop and maintain these apps, as well as create user assistance for Oracle Adaptive Intelligent Apps User assistance includes contextual and online help for developers, integrators, and functional users

Bottom line We need someone who is a business intelligence (BI) and reporting specialist, software developer, quality analyst, and user assistance developer all rolled into one!

What you will do Learn new things every day Learn about Oracle Cloud apps, technology, and user assistance concepts through research, hands-on practice, and discussions with information developers, architects, and senior management
Continuously find out more and stay abreast of the latest and coolest trends in user assistance, curriculum design, and information architecture; use what you learn to innovate and improve our applications/tools constantly

Create, build, and maintain Design and develop reports and personalized dashboards that consolidate information from a variety of sources, including code scans and audits, bug databases, third-party analytics/metrics tools, and content repositories
Create and manage apps to define and schedule documentation and curriculum deliverables, track team and individual milestones, and report on progress
Work with senior management, information architects, and information developers to understand requirements Figure out what data our information developers need to do their job and define technical specifications
Use a variety of tools, technologies, and standards, including PL/SQL, BI reporting, Python/Ruby/PERL, Oracle Application Express (APEX), as well as DITA and XML to build our apps
Take responsibility for creating tools that our user assistance and curriculum developers use and find helpful! That is, create apps that

Are easy-to-use, intuitive and focus on their requirements
Include data visualization and graphs that look good and aid understanding and decision-making

Advocate for our users Review and write the language on the UI Ensure that page names and field labels, and embedded assistance, for example messages and on-screen help, prevent mistakes or false starts, and guide users to the quickest route to success

Create content that our users (all varieties of them) want to read! That is, write engaging content, with

Easy-to-read text that can be understood by non-native speakers and that translates well
Graphics, flow diagrams, and infographics that look good and aid understanding

Be your own boss and our face to the world Manage your own tasks and deliverables while working in varied development environments
Participate in design and development discussions and review meetings
Independently track tasks and deliverable to completion with minimum supervision
Represent the InfoDev tools team in a variety of cross-product teams and projects

What you need to be successful Education and experience BA/BS or MA/MS in Communication, Language, Computer Science or a related field

Preferably, some experience in software or application development, BI analysis and reporting, or data management

Must have Strong written and oral communication skills
Clear, persuasive communication in meetings, emails, and other forms of communication
Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, and simple technical documentation for range of audiences

Organizational skills and problem solving

Ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize, schedule, and meet aggressive deadlines
Proven track record of delivering on time and to quality metrics
Organized, professional, motivated, and deft at making quick decisions
Proven ability to think critically, solve problems, and take initiative

Demonstrated ability to operate independently and as part of a larger, virtual team

Experience with development technologies, processes, and techniques
Excellent analytic skills and working experience of using SQL to fetch complex data Experience with PL/SQL will be a plus
Hands on experience with scripting technologies (Python/Ruby/PERL)
Experience with Business Intelligence apps Experience with Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE) will be a plus
Experience with, and knowledge of, a range of visual information design techniques
Demonstrated proficiency in understanding user requirements and implementing them

Nice to have Experience with Oracle Application Express (APEX)
Broad understanding of and experience with agile software design and management
Understanding of, and experience with, DITA; proficiency in designing and developing content that follows DITA standards
Experience working with XML-based authoring tools and with video development software
Experience with Oracle Applications Cloud services
Knowledge of virtualization
Knowledge of Java, J2EE, and web technologies

Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining user assistance and training documentation for Oracle applications Collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders to design our next generation of user assistance technology and implementing new embedded help delivery mechanisms that improve how technical information is delivered to our customers Work with development teams to implement code for new user assistance mechanisms
