Abbott Ireland Diagnostic Division Longford
Abbott established a diagnostics manufacturing facility in Sligo in 1994 to manufacture blood-screening products and reagents

In 2004, Abbotts operations in Ireland expanded with the opening of a second facility in Longford The plant was first occupied in December 2004, and the first product (Architect TSH) was launched in December of 2005

The Longford facility plays a key role in helping Abbott to meet the increasing global demand for diagnostic testing in areas such as infectious disease, cancer, thyroid and cardiovascular diseases

Abbott in Longford manufactures 18 diagnostic reagent products for thyroid function, fertility, and pregnancy, cardiology, renal and metabolic Our products are manufactured to the highest standards of quality and are regulated by bodies such as the US Food and Drug Administration and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)

Abbott Diagnostics Division is looking for a Senior Quality Professional Global Supply Chain QA for the department Global Supply Chain Quality Assurance based in ADD Longford and this role will involve the following

Main Responsibilities

Work with ADD Suppliers to conduct quality-related activities to deliver consistent, high quality documents, services, products and processes
Project Management for quality-related activities as well as leading projects
Work in international and cross-functional teams
Ensuring compliance to site level policies and procedures, addressing of noncompliant issues within Division and Corporation as appropriate
Ensuring adherence and maintaining the effectiveness of the Quality System
Evaluation of product safety and efficacy and elevation of risk-based issues
Compliant documentation in area of responsibility
Actively leads issue management due to supplier related topics linking to all relevant stakeholders and suppliers
Actively works with specific suppliers through improvement initiatives taking ownership and accountability for the supply of these suppliers
Acts as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for GSCQA organisation linking to site leadership and Auditors as required
Active participant across all areas of the ADD GSCQA organisation ie Ops support, Project, Supplier Change Notification and Supplier Development


Degree in Life Science, Engineering, or closely related discipline is required OR relevant combination of education or experience
At least 5 years work experience in Quality or related field
Experience with manufacturing and related quality systems including CAPA
Good, general understanding of the standards and regulatory bodies that regulate our industry
Strong communication skills
Ability to work independently
Fluent in English
Experience in the Healthcare industry is preferred
