Senior Manager - Database Service Engineering

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages and is accountable for the performance and results of the Database team within the SaaS group Manages the planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods/processes
Responsible for the team to configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, ensuring high levels of performance, availability, and security

Provides leadership to the team and builds a culture of accountability to meet business objectives and goals
Supervises team members and assumes people management responsibilities including, but not limited to, the management of direct reports, and applicable subordinate team members, setting performance objectives, and conducting annual performance reviews Develops staff members through coaching and fostering of a positive work environment

Oversees the management of the SQL Server databases through multiple product life cycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems
Provides leadership in the analysis, resolution, and correction of issues in real time
Designs and manages SQL Server databases through multiple product life cycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems
Continually reviews, configures, and maintains database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
Supports database version upgrade and migration
Manages and provides 24x7 support for critical production systems
Manages the scheduled maintenance and release patching deployment activities after hours
Shares domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members
Performs other related duties and activities as required

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Education and Work Experience

Bachelors degree in higher education level, or its foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related engineering/computer field
Minimum 10 years of professional experience
Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Senior Database Administrator with experience in Azure Environments
3 years of experience in SQL server Database version 2012 or greater and Windows environments
3 years of experience within Azure and SQL server Database version 2016
2 years of experience with Azure SQL
2 years of managing other DBAs
Experience within Azure and SQL server Database version 2016
Experience with complex and fast paced Cloud migration projects

Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

Proficient with Stored Procedure, creating and altering tables, knowledge of SQL server security, SSIS packages
Proficient at capacity planning, performance and compatibility check between On-Prem SQL Server to Azure SQL DB
Proficient with High Availability (HA), Mirroring, Availability Groups, Replication and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
Proficient with Performance Tuning and Optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
Proficient with backups, restores and recovery models
Proficient with Windows server, including Active Directory
Exposure to SQL Server Database migration Cloud projects
Excellent written and verbal communication
Flexible, team player, get-it-done personality
Ability to organize and plan work independently
Migrating On-Prem SQL Server to Azure database

Other Requirements

Travel 0-10 PERCENT
Special Work Hours 1) 24x7 support for critical production systems; and 2) After hours for performance scheduled maintenance and support release patching deployment activities
Work Authorization Legally authorized to work in the country of the job location
PhysicalExerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work
