Mission Optimize, standardize and implement data science and machine learning solutions at scale in data pipelines and distributed systems (eg Hadoop/Spark ecosystem)
Screen the market for potential new / innovative Data Science approaches
Support the development of end to end analytical approaches based on product concepts
Actively share Data Science knowledge within Technology and Data network
Support the presentation of GfKs Data Science capabilities in client-facing situations
Represent GfKs Data Science expertise at conferences and workshops

Responsibilities Support and coordinate Data Science related tasks for internal and external projects and work streams
Create and improve methods and tools, and contribute to best practices in the area of Data Sciences
Present GfKs Data Sciences expertise at conferences and workshops
Develop, implement and standardize Data Science solutions
Design, develop and implement data science and machine learning models in proof-of-concepts and prototypes (eg notebooks, webapplications)
Design, develop and implement data science and machine learning models at scale in production systems
Engineer at scale using service-oriented architecture, containerized applications and functions as a service, especially in cloud service environments (ie IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, FaaS)
Optimize data science and machine learning models using high performance computing (eg GPU computing) and real-time techniques (eg messaging services, reactive programming)
Consult external and internal clients on Data Science related issues
Foster Data Science related knowledge exchange within GfK
Participate in Communities of Practice
Support development of talent and organization of required trainings

Qualifications Expert knowledge of analytic programming languages (eg, Python, R) and the respective tool ecosystem (eg, R-Studio Server, Zeppelin, Jupyter)
Expert skills with regard to working in state of the art Big Data environments (eg, Cloudera Hadoop, Hortonworks Data Platform, AWS EMR, Map/Reduce, Hive)
Solid to Expert knowledge of computer science fundamentals, software design principles and patterns
Solid knowledge of the constantly evolving Data Science ecosystem and its frameworks (eg, Hadoop, Spark MLlib, H2O, Tensorflow, Torch, Theano)
Expert skills with regard to performance optimization and scalability (eg, parallelization, code optimization, containerization, function as a service)
Expert skills with regard to database handling, in particular SQL, NoSQL
Solid statistical modeling skills (eg, predictive models)
Expert knowledge of optimization and / or machine learning algorithms and / or deep learning algorithms
Solid understanding of Big Data Architectures
Solid understanding of Microservice Architectures
Basic understanding of AI (ie, principles, tools, areas of application)
Solid knowledge of cloud computing environments and tooling (AWS, Azure)
Expert skills in open source software sourcing (eg, Apache, Anaconda, GitHub,)
Proven project management skills
Ability to fluidly communicate in an English business environment
PhD or Master degree that reflects strong modeling, statistics and IT skills
PhD or Master degree in Computer Sciences, business information systems; business information technology or related areas
Typically 5 years of work experience
