Job Description

Overall Responsibility

Day to day and overall responsibility and accountability on all client handling

Bring value additions to all client discussions and presentations through in-depth understanding of the Indian market, brands and consumer behaviour

Mentor and coach a small team of reportees

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Research Management

o Brief clarity in understanding of the marketing problem or why the client wants to do the study, what decisions impinge on this study; maturity to ask leading questions to client till clarity on the KBQs (key business questions) are answered

o Proposal ability to translate the marketing issue into research tasks, recommending an appropriate research design at correct price; confidence to present proposals either to convince/negotiate with clients on the appropriate methodology and its cost

o Research Instruments translating the proposed approach into suitable instruments, being sensitive to how to ask the question, when to ask the question and how to measure the response; coaching junior team members to develop this skill

o Vendor Management knowledge about Field/DP processes, keeping fieldwork cost & time in control and ability to get the work done amicably; negotiating with Field and DP to deliver on time and meet quality

o Analysis thoroughness of analysis plan, ability to get the work done on time amicably, understanding & application of relevant tools & techniques

o Presentation flow, visual appeal & style of presentation

o Conclusions ability to interpret the data correctly, converting the data into information that can be used to client and providing the solution to the marketing problem

Client Management

o In-depth Understanding of Clients Markets/Brands need to have an in-depth understanding of clients business for value addition in all interactions with the clients and ability to think beyond the project and look at a client as a whole, his business & its reality, his marketing needs and the way they view research, their working culture etc

o Relationship Building being sensitive to the nature of the research person at the client end, suitably adopting strategies to circumvent his idiosyncrasies, aiding the client new information regarding his business and research or marketing developments continuously (person with good EQ)

o Business Generation seeking & pursuing different possible avenues so that the business from the client can increase, looking out for opportunities to sell more or cross-sell etc

Business Management

o Revenue Management increasing revenue from existing clients, generating new clients, exploring new avenues of business opportunities (products, syndicated research, new markets), managing profitability

o Resource Management planning manpower, efficient deployment of manpower, management of infrastructural (office, computers etc) needs, developing suppliers

o Enhancement of Organizations Image/Equity internal & external ambassador of the companys culture and values, strong presence in forums that help build companies image etc

People Management

o Good Personal Relationships must have the ability to empathize with people (team members, peers/colleagues, seniors and clients) and create personal relationships that aid in harmonious and winning work culture; a must-go-to person for solving work related issues; ability to work as 1 team across all departments

o Coach & Mentor Team Members a senior leader who loves to pass on professional knowledge and insights gained from experience to the team members; someone who loves to coach the team and make each into a confident and contributing member of the team

o Stress Buster a senior leader who has self control on professional stress due to day-to-day work and who has the capability or willingness to take away the stress from the team members so that they remain focused and motivated

Skills

A senior leader who can lead the accounts and the team that requires some basic skill sets that are listed below and may not be limited to the list below

o Hard Skills working knowledge on SPSS, Survey Reporter, Pivots; knowledge of qualitative techniques/interpretation will be an added (but not necessary) value

o Soft Skills creating a harmonious and winning work culture by leading from the front on client and people management

Personal Attributes

Communication ability day to day, spoken (personal (intra-inter) / presentations), written (proposals or reports)

Self-initiative looking beyond immediate realm of work, knowledge accumulation, office administration issues

Comradeship high sense of belongingness, committed, works amicably with peers or juniors or persons from other functions, respect others, tries to find a solution through discussions

Leadership quality training, motivating, delegating, deploying as per ability, creating a pleasant working environment, getting work done amicably

Specific Qualifications

Minimum qualification will be MBA from a reputed institute

Broad work experience across various sectors (B2C & B2B) like FMCG, IT, Telecom, BFSI, Auto, Cement, Paint, etc

Good working knowledge/experience on MR project types like Brand Health Tracks, Segmentation, U&A, Ad Testing, Shopper/Path to Purchase, etc
