About the role

This new position has been created within US L&H Accounting & Reporting team to provide support for US L&Hs financial reporting activities and to also participate directly in developing the team to become successful with its future envisioned model From a financial reporting perspective, this individual would have important responsibilities to assist with the quarterly financial statement reporting across all accounting basis including US Statutory, US GAAP, and Econnomic Value Management (EVM) Additionally, the position would offer opportunities for a strong candidate to work across all teams within A&R supporting regulatory compliance, capital planning, large transaction acquisitions, technology implementations, and various other aspects of the finance function

Reinsurance Finance is currently undergoing significant transformation which will change the overall approach of how and where certain financial reporting activities will be performed As a result, in the future state, the US L&H Accounting & Reporting team will utilize a mix of regional resources from US and Bangalore as well as reporting support from an Accounting & Reporting Global Center This position would require the candidate to be forward thinking and to actively participate in developing the optimal financial reporting model with the goal of producing high quality deliverables as efficiently as possible

The incumbent will be mainly responsible for providing support in the compiliation and presentation of the US L&H financial statements on all basis of accounting The responsibilities, depending on reporting needs at the time, could include supporting the following activities

Preparation and filing of the quarterly USGAAP and EVM financial results
Preparation of US Statutory Annual and Quarterly filings for all legal entities
Preparation of quarterly Legal Entity packages, Audit Committee, and Board reports
Participation in presenting quarterly financial results to senior management
Ensure that the financial reporting control environment is properly maintained and to promptly remediate any issues that are identified
Project work on large transactions and other Reinsurance initiatives to the extent required

The candidate must exhibit an ability to work well with peers and other supporting resources in reaching a common goal

About You

Technical Background

University graduate with a degree in Accounting/Finance, Economics, or Actuarial Sciences
Minimum of 3 years of experience within the insurance industry
General understanding of USGAAP reporting and Economic Value Management
US Statutory insurance accounting experience is preferred
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills

Travel

We will strive to keep travel to a minimum However, depending on the candidates home office location, they must be willing to travel for approximately 20 PERCENT of their time to other Swiss Re US offices and occasionally to certain foreign offices (eg, Bangalore, Zurich, etc)
