Position Summary

With limited supervision, the Senior Digital Editor drives strategy and executes on the delivery of all assigned international, state, and district-level custom program components and project tasks over the entire program lifecycle (initiate, plan, build, execute, control, release) The Senior Digital Editor is accountable to deliver high quality, competitive print and/or digital programs on time and within budget The Senior Digital Editor leads all phases of a project with primary emphasis on defining the custom strategy and providing vendor oversight for the development of print and digital products

-Manages customized programs for international markets

-Manages projects with up to $5m in revenue opportunity

-Leads cross-functional teams of 15 staff

-Manages up to 5 vendor teams concurrently

Primary Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning

Drives customization strategy (local to international) for assigned programs and components by leveraging curriculum and product expertise, performing market and standards analysis, and researching technical requirements for print and multimedia platform deliveries

Establishes custom product specifications for assigned programs and components and provides key inputs for budget creation

Directs customization strategy for assigned programs and components by overseeing prototype creation, producing writing and digital authoring guidelines, and communicating project objectives across internal teams and vendor partners

Generates RFP description of services and prepares bid forms for all assigned programs and components Clarifies project scope for bid negotiations

Determines sourcing plan, work flow, and schedule for all assigned programs and components to ensure product delivery is on-time, within budget, and meets market expectations

Development

Executes complex customization projects for local to international markets across a wide range of print and multimedia formats and a variety of platforms and delivery devices (print/Web/LMS platforms/EPUB/mobile delivery)

Facilitates cross-functional teams and communications, ensuring customization strategy is implemented consistently

Employs best practices for print processes, structured authoring tools, scripts, and standardized Pearson XHTML tagging to ensure program delivery goals

Monitors and adapts resource plans, work flows, processes to ensure project meets or exceeds quality, schedule, and budget expectations

Mitigates project risks by proactively identifying and escalating issues and recommending solutions

Establishes QA print workflow and digital test plans for Usability Testing teams, as well as vendor partners, to ensure products adhere to company guidelines and are validated as part of formative evaluation

Directs and approves content plans, vendor deliverables, and course structure and authoring documents to ensure project guidelines are met

Vendor and Teams Management

Recruits specialized vendors for all assigned programs and components

Oversees Request for Proposals (RFP) for bidding and advises through rate negotiations

Manages project launch with vendors, setting resource plans, workflow, schedule, and quality expectations

Leads cross-functional internal and external teams in content development and course build processes

Monitors vendors, escalating resource, work flow, and process issues and offering resolutions to ensure quality, schedule, and budget expectations

Qualifications

Requirements

Related work experience

Minimum 5 years of project management experience and staff management experiences is essential

Minimum 5 years of experience with instructional materials development or in an editorial capacity within educational publishing

Minimum 3 years of digital development experience

Experience with international product development within educational publishing strongly preferred

Formal education or equivalent

A BA/BS in a related field Masters level degree preferred, but not required

Teaching experience is strongly preferred

Skills

Experienced with all aspects of print and digital product development and deployment, including familiarity with content management systems, digital authoring systems, escalation paths, QA procedures, and working with both development and technical leads

High degree of familiarity and comfort with interactive media, static media, and markup languages such as Acrobat, HTML, XML, and CSS Familiarity with CMS basics and metadata management

Understands company budgeting, project approval, and production processes

Excellent communication skills, strong analytical and decision-making skills, and strong leadership and team-building skills

Able to be strategic and efficient in planning and meeting schedules, budgets, and accuracy/quality goals Proactive in anticipating, evaluating, and solving for issues to avoid disruptions in workflow Able to respond quickly in an environment of changing priorities

Proven experience interacting with cross-functional project teams with team members located in remote locations Project Management experience necessary
