Role Summary/Purpose

The Senior Control Systems Engineer is expected to oversee and/or execute the tasks required in the design, fabrication, programming, installation, and commissioning of LNG, and gas processing plants This position requires the application of international and domestic codes and standards, project specific standards, recognized engineering practices, and project management skills

Essential Responsibilities

In the roll of the Senior Control Systems Engineer, you will

Perform instrument, electrical, control system design, and process automation engineering duties as required to support business needs
Serve as a technical authority to the electrical, instrument, and controls engineering disciplines
Ensure the functionality and interoperability of all electrical, instrument, and control systems
Ensure the overall quality and technical accuracy of project deliverables
Review and markup Piping and Instrument Diagrams
Prepare and present bi-weekly project reports to manager
Delegate engineering tasks to junior team members
Work with the Inquiry-to-Order team in developing proposals
Schedule and request team resources from manager
Lead and document Factory Assessment Testing, Site Assessment Testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities
Prepare process control narratives and philosophies
Address and close non-conformity reports in a timely manner
Author project management of change documents
Maintain project file structure in accordance with department and project requirements
Participate in and support project technical reviews
Provide second tier customer technical support
Maintain the department electrical fabrication specification
Perform product impact assessments for newly identified cybersecurity threats and develop/implement remediation plans where required
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
Serve as the Supervising Professional Engineer of record for BHGE for the State of Louisiana and perform the duties in accordance with the licensure law that state


Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university

Minimum 10 years of experience as a Controls Engineer

Minimum 4 years of experience of industrial plant design roles with electrical, instrumentation, and control systems engineering focus

Eligibility Requirements

Licensed in the State of Louisiana as a Professional Engineer

Travel internationally and domestically 40 PERCENT of the time or more may be required based on specific project requirements

Desired Characteristics

Masters Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university

High level of process safety awareness and knowledge of applicable LNG regulations

Proficient in HMI application development

Proficient in PLC logic development

Proficient in process instrumentation specification

Proficient in control valve sizing and specification

Proficient in SKM Power Tools and electrical system simulation methodologies

Knowledge of FERC, DOT and OSHA regulations

Knowledge with applicable Codes and Standards such as NFPA 59A, NFPA 70, API, IEEE, ISA

Strong organizational and analytical skills

Ability to work in a matrix environment while coordinating across multiple sites

Ability to adapt real-time to rapidly changing environment

Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong business and financial acumen
