Job Description:


Provision of contract administration and commercial support to the operations and logistics teams developing highly effective relationships with all team members


  • Leads the tendering, evaluation and negotiation process in relation to the award of high value/complex contracts and agreements for ops and logistics scopes and makes recommendations to management on contractor selection and contract award Activities relate to a wide range of scopes

  • Ensures that highly effective contracts strategies are developed and approved during Phase I of the contracts management process

  • Manages the activities of the ops and logistics procurement and contract team and ensures the delivery of an effective contracts management service to the projects function in compliance with Corporate Policies as identified on the Management System (TMS)

  • Ensures that the skills and expertise of the ops and logistics contracts and procurement team are developed to support the delivery of business objectives Identified training and development needs of team through the annual appraisal process

  • Responsible for the development and management of detailed procurement plans and works closely with ops and logistics teams and TAs to prepare tender strategies and ITT documentation where required

  • Prepares detailed quantitative and qualitative evaluation of tenders including assessment of contract risk

  • Liaises with project stakeholders to evaluate tenders, obtain contract award approvals and contract execution

  • Takes a lead role in contractual and commercial negotiations in accordance with contracting principles, ensuring risk mitigation and commercial optimization

  • Responsible for provision of post-award administration support including contract amendment and variation administration, ensuring compliance with the HSSEQ risk management processes

  • Supports compliance with the Contracts Management Plans

  • Acts as a key negotiator in relation to contract dispute resolution

  • Responsible for key supplier performance and relationship management, including frequent performance feedback sessions, utilising FPAL feedback as appropriate

  • Provides specialist advice and guidance to project team members on contracting and other supply chain matters

  • Takes a lead role in identifying and developing opportunities to create value and improve service delivery through effective contract management techniques

  • Ensures cost/budget tracking, CTR management and milestone / invoice review

  • Provides guidance and direction to less experienced members of the team

  • Ensures that the Supply Chain Department Procurement Plan is kept up to date on a month-end basis as a minimum or more regularly as may be required

  • Provides support to the Contracts Manager and other team members as required 



  • Educated to Degree level, preferably in a Business/ Commercial or Quantity Surveying related discipline Preferred

  • Working towards Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) accreditation

  • Significant experience in a similar role at a senior level in an Operator or oil and gas service company

  • Extensive experience of operations contracts

  • Strong experience of contract and commercial negotiations

  • Detailed knowledge of LOGIC model contracts

  • Proven ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with a wide range of suppliers, vendors and service companies

  • Ability to develop relationships with internal stakeholders across the business

  • Willing to be hands on to manage all types of contracts, large and small

  • Considerable experience of Microsoft office packages Word, Excel, PowerPoint Preferred

  • Knowledge of Oracle/Maximo or similar ERP/procurement & materials systems

  • Previous experience gained within an engineering/operations
