Primary Focus

The exam developer role is to create, review, and maintain content of Oracles technical certification exams Successful candidates must have very strong exam development and technical background, be detail-driven and have excellent training, problem solving skills and writing skills You will also implement an item development process and keep certification exams technically accurate and current, while complying with best practices and certification guidelines and standards

Roles and Responsibilities

Contribute to all aspects of high-impact certifications projects from start to finish in close collaboration with the Certification Exams Program Manager and curriculum developers and managers
Perform scope definition, job task analysis (JTA), blueprint design, marketing positioning statement
Train SMEs on Oracle style guidelines and exam development best practices
Build a solid technical understanding of the product line to speak fluently with consultants, engineering teams, subject matter experts, instructors and more to achieve certifications with as few additional resources as possible
Item writing, technical review, and modified Angoff for score setting
Exam maintenance (healthcheck, gap analysis etc)
Implement certification industry standards and best practices
Implement and maintain communications with various stakeholders
Work globally with international teams and understand their specific requirements (localization, Japan business model) and business priorities
Monitor exam performance metrics (trends, # of deliveries, pass rates, # of retakes etc)
Conduct quality reviews of exam files
Collaborate on escalated SRs
Collaborate on security issues and infringement investigations
Manage the editorial review of items (eg grammar, spelling, standardizing on technical terms throughout the exam, etc)
Keep up-to-date with the latest versions and new features of Oracle products

Basic Qualifications

4 years experience in exam development
3 years experience facilitating and leading exam development workshops for certification
Fluency in English
Knowledge of certification standards and best practices
Bachelors degree or 10 years equivalent work experience

Ideal Qualifications

Oracle Certifications at the OCP level
Strong knowledge of Exadata, Middleware
Previous experience with certification exams as a SME
Technical writing and editing experience

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Develops courseware to support new and existing products, often though not exclusively in conjunction with Product Division

Coordinate and evaluate development contributions from other courseware development team members Develop certification questions for use in the Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) exams Solicit & incorporate feedback from reviews and training events Deliver training at train-the-trainer and pilot events

Job duties are varied and complex, needing independent judgment May have project lead role Bachelor*s Degree in Computer Science or Instructional Design Four years adult education experience (as teacher or curriculum developer) Seven years technical or professional experience using Oracle products or related software Strong SQL and PL/SQL knowledge and experience Knowledge of XML, Java, and J2EE technologies Experience with Oracle9i Database administration Knowledge of Oracle9i Application server
