Job profile summary The role of Reservoir Quality (RQ) Specialist will work in the Exploration Technical Center (ETC) This role aims to strengthen the RQ discipline & capability within the exploration function through technical project delivery, mentoring junior staff, course/seminar delivery, and innovation

The RQ Specialist will deliver RQ projects from start to finish for access, exploration and appraisal activities from our worldwide portfolio This includes providing advice on analytical data collection, Q/C of vendor data, compiling meaningful data from various sources into a relational database, interpret and integrate geological data to reveal processes controlling RQ on a local and regional scale, and develop models for rock property prediction The individual will collaborate across disciplines, particularly sedimentology, basin modeling, petrophysics, and reservoir engineering, in order to provide quantitative insights into reservoir deliverability within a framework of risk and uncertainty description

The ETC is a multidisciplinary group of technical specialists that support BPs exploration effort worldwide ETC experts are critical to our global regional exploration teams in delivering timely and advanced solutions to help identify appropriate opportunity risk and resource

Job Advert Key accountabilities include

Advise region teams to design fit-for-purpose RQ projects with the data that is available, and deliver high quality RQ work products within an Agile (Scrum/Kanban) context
Work not only closely with other RQ and sedimentology/stratigraphy (sed/strat) authorities but also across disciplines to provide a coordinated view of the opportunity under assessment and aid exploration decisions
Collaborate with colleagues in Exploration, Reservoir Development, and/or third-party contractors to ensure quality of meaningful core analytical programs, data and interpretative reports
Work with technical leads to ensure knowledge transfer through contributions to internal seminars and publications
Work with RQ, sed/strat, petroleum systems, petrophysics, reservoir engineering, and structural colleagues to design and deliver appropriate formal and informal training/mentoring
Attend peer reviews providing feedback and assurance
Coach and mentor junior staff to increase the overall capability of asset geoscientists
Keep involved and support the SSRQ and other appropriate CoPs and Networks
Keep aware of external advances in RQ through attendance of relevant conferences and/or RQ-related consortium meetings (eg Geocosm RQC, BASIC)
When appropriate, develop and or test new software, internal and external

Essential education MS or PhD in an Earth Science discipline

Essential experience and job requirements Reservoir quality (RQ) technical excellence
Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience
Analytical skills in sandstone petrology and diagenesis, including petrological thin section analysis, XRD, SEM, and fluid inclusion and isotope data applications to diagenesis
Proficiency in RQ prediction using Touchstone and Tmap software (Geocosm)
Ability to recommend a work plan fit for a teams purpose and provide technical mentorship of individuals and teams (good communication and mentoring skills)
Ability to develop standard methodology products and improve analysis tools and workflows
Be collaborative and work closely with project teams and technical experts locally or in remote offices
Bias for action proactive and engages before being asked or forced
Good eye for business, with ability to deliver quality technical work within project timelines and budgets and balance multiple project concurrently Must have the flexibility to rapidly adapt to new project groups and technical areas
Dedication to Safety

Desirable criteria & qualifications Working knowledge of the major elements of sediment depositional systems, Basin Modeling, Petrophysical analysis, and core data acquisition programs
Familiarity with use of sandstone calibration sets and analogs
Data Management
Petrel experience
