Job profile summary The role of the Remote Operations Engineer within the Facilities Technology team is to coordinate/support development, testing and deployment of new and emerging technologies to make our operations safer, more reliable and competitive, enabling the cross-functional vision for Remote Operations for brownfield and greenfield facilities

The Facilities Technology team has the following key areas of activity While all of these have some relevance to Remote Operations, the top two items will be the focus of this Remote Operations Engineer role
Robotics and Sensors advancing the capability of robots, such as drones, crawlers, or unmanned ships with underwater vehicles, to perform repetitive or difficult-to-access tasks in the areas of inspection, monitoring and maintenance - increasing safety, and improving efficiency; or using satellites and permanently installed advanced sensor systems to remotely monitor and protect asset integrity
Predictive Operations - developing and using cutting-edge data science and predictive capabilities to prevent production plant outages and optimize performance
Low Carbon detecting, quantifying and reducing emissions, and pursuing lower carbon opportunities to support the energy transition
Integrity Management applying new solutions to improve safety and reliability, such as next generation materials and coatings, big data analytics, corrosion and erosion models
Production Chemistry - using new chemical science approaches to improve the flow and processing of produced fluids from our subsurface reservoirs, eg preventing asphaltene and scale deposits

The role requires open-thinking and curiosity to understand the challenges and areas for improvement in our current production operations; identifying potential technology solutions; coordinating the early test of these solutions at one or more of our global operating sites, on land or offshore

The Facilities Technology team works in an integrated and inclusive way with GOO, GPO, UEC and DIO, with deep connectivity through our work processes We use Agile methodology to get appropriate solutions into the field as soon as possible Facilities Technology supports flexible working

Job Advert Key Accountabilities

Coordinate and support delivery of technology projects aligned with the GOO and GPO Remote Operations vision, delivering successful technical outcomes, safely on schedule and within budget
Proactively conduct and share industry surveillance to optimize BPs access to & utilization of Remote Operations technologies
Provide project engineering or technical support to project leads within Facilities Technology
Identify and frame near term and longer-term project opportunities with potential business value to Remote Operations

Essential Education Degree in Engineering

Essential Experience and Job Requirements

Background in or supporting operations or projects (onshore, offshore, subsea)
Open thinking and curiosity to explore and consider new technology opportunities with the potential to enable the Remote Operations vision
Good spoken and written communication skills

Desirable Criteria Flexibility to take on varied project roles as needed, and to adapt to a fast-changing work environment
Safety and environmental awareness
Awareness of BPs Engineering Technical Practices, OMS and MPcp
Working towards attaining professional accreditation (eg P Eng, CEng, PMP)
