Role Overview

The Belt and Road (B&R) Initiative is major part of Chinas national strategy, with investment impacting economies along the B&R countries accounting for 63 PERCENT of the world population and 29 PERCENT of the global GDP Given our close alignment to the 45 B&R countries, as a bank, SCB is probably the most well placed international bank to capture the opportunities arising from these investments With our revenues hitting USD 1 billion in 2018 we have already begun to take advantage of these opportunities and are looking to further capitalize in 2019

The primary role of the Relationship Manager is to drive profitability from the Chinese Client portfolio, both from existing clients and through new client acquisition We currently have opportunities in Dehli/Mumbai, India and Colombo, Sri Lanka

The Role Responsibilities

Support CIB RMs in India and China to achieve individual financial and non-financial targets for the China (home country) India/SriLanka (host country) corridor while contributing towards teams overall deliverables through

effectively generating new business identify prospects and convert in line with the Banks appetite

support GAMs in strategically formulating account plan provide clients needs-based solutions, structure appropriate credit facility, and execute various banking transactions on the ground

proactively building trusted client relationships with a solid engagement locally

Market and sell broad range of products including trade service, cash management, treasury and investment

Help to implement agreed business plan for the corridor to achieve sales/ revenue targets

Generate creative ideas on customer acquisition and products/ services

Regularly feed back to GAM/FAM team on new and anticipated financial and service needs and recommend appropriate improvements to processes on new products in the market

To update the local regulation from time to time to GAM team and help Chinese client to understand well through Mandarin

Maintain a high level of professionalism in client engagement, internal stakeholder management and other business conduct


Assist the Regional Head, Global Subsidiaries South Asia and work along with existing Regional Team Leaders and RMs to Develop & implement strategy of growth for the Chinese Corporate Business locally

Responsible for Origination and work closely with the Local Relationship Manager (RMs) teams (along with Credit Analysts (CAs) and Client Coverage Managers (CCMs)) in deepening relationships and driving revenue growth in the Chinese Portfolio

Whilst majority of the accounts will be managed by Local RMs, the individual will also be directly responsible as a Relationship Manager for some accounts

Ensure quality pitches to clients, along with RMs, where appropriate Assist the RM (or drive individually for allocated accounts) to deliver a deal from origination to final closure

Senior client calling in the Chinese Portfolio and briefing on a regular basis for account maintenance and deal negotiation

Engage senior internal stakeholders for marketing, credit and any other pertinent issues

Increase engagement levels with Global Account Managers (GAMs) based in SCB China to strengthen group level relationships

Client On boarding & Deal Execution

Work with CAs to obtain pre deal clearances & ensure timely delivery

Oversee CCM to ensure smooth on-boarding of client after thorough completion of documentation and other processes

Work with product partners to deliver effective cross sell, wallet sizing and comprehensive account plans

Successfully negotiate and close out pricing and other deal dynamics with client

Oversee the quality & turnaround of credit proposal and ensure faster delivery Work with CA for resolving Credit queries

Have/ Develop an understanding of the banking regulations / compliance requirements in Thailand

Facilitate / Liase with CDU/ External Legal counsel, where required, in preparation and execution of Non Standard Documentation

Account Management / Portfolio Quality

Ensure full compliance on CDD/AML matters related to portfolio

Have an oversight on risk & overall accountability of the credit quality in the portfolio

Our Ideal Candidate

Fluent in Mandarin and English

2 Minimum 3 years of relevant banking experience in serving business/commercial/corporate clients Experience in servicing international businesses under the cross-border context is a plus Can be flexible for suitable candidates

3 Sound product knowledge on trade, cash, lending and FX and good understanding of Chinese market environment and investment trends into host country (India and SriLanka)

4 Knowledge of operational procedures, documentation requirements, banking practices and regulations related to Corporate & Institutional Banking

5 Firm in all business guidelines and compliance issues
