Job Description:

The Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) teams plays the lead role in ensuring high quality, safe products that comply with all food regulations Quality & food safety are cornerstones of GMIs commitment to serve the world by making food people love In this critical role, youll have unique opportunities to lead and influence food safety direction The Joplin plant manufactures products such as biscuits, pizza crust, pot pies and pie crust for main Convenience & Foodservice customers such as Wal-Mart, Sams Club, KFC, Pizza Hut


Provide Quality leadership & direction in the areas of regulatory compliance, processing, sanitation, hold order management, defect handling and food safety
Provide plant technical support for R&D and new product start-ups
Manage food safety and training within the facility
Partner with operations, maintenance, sanitation and engineering to continuously reduce risk within operating plant
Provide leadership in micro management and sanitation excellence
Leverage Continuous Improvement strategies and tools to drive ongoing improvements to food safety and operational execution
Provide risk assessment analysis and manage issues with non-conforming materials &/or finished products to assure proper control, minimize losses and implement processes to eliminate/prevent future occurrences
Pest management coordination/oversight
Collect, analyze and interpret in-process and analytical data to make quality evaluations
Ensure the facility meets all GMI/regulatory, sanitation, and product safety guidelines
Support FSRA by conducting food safety & sanitation inspections, providing leadership in RMP initiatives and SOP verification program
Ensure the facility meets all GMP, HACCP, regulatory, sanitation, and product safety guidelines
Will be the site Food Safety Team Leader able to drive continuous improvement in the sites FSSC certification



Bachelor Degree, Bachelor Degree in Baking Science, Engineering Chemical , Engineering Industrial, Engineering Mechanical, Engineering Foods, Engineering Packaging, Food Science, Food Science and Industry, or Food Science and Technology preferred

Additional Preferred Qualifications

3 yrs experience
HACCP certification
Ability to lead constructive, positive change within a plant environment
Be able to display proficiency in developing mutual respect with operators, mechanics, etc in order to execute programs and achieve goals
Show ability to lead peer group and affect change/department direction via influence management
Ability to communicate with leadership team to gain broad support for ideas
Clear, concise, well directed communication
Bias for action and results, takes initiative
Capable of risk management, managing issues to assure proper control, minimize losses and provide analysis of root cause to eliminate future occurrences
Understanding of product quality, sensory, and food safety
Understanding of internal policies/standards, regulatory requirements
Strong Continuous Improvement Knowledge
Ability to work both independently and in team settings; including work on project teams that involve other functions, divisions, or organizations
Good statistical, computer, communication, organizational, documentation and technical problem solving skills
