We have the unique and significant role to partner with NASA at Johnson Space Center (JSC), to be part of every human spaceflight program the International Space Station (ISS), NASAs Orion spacecraft, which will carry astronauts into deep space, and Gateway, the orbiting platform providing the home for astronauts to work and travel back and forth to the moons surface, and serving as the platform for deep space exploration From critical systems on the ISS to enable astronauts to live and work in space; to performing advanced development for systems leading to deep space exploration; to being part of the foundation for Gateway

We also partner with NASA at JSC, the only NASA center in the United States to curate all astromaterial samples returned from exploration missions, to perform curation services, orbital debris analysis, and basic research to further humankinds understanding of the origins of our solar system

We are currently in need of a Project Manager - Spaceflight Oxygen Generation Systems to join our team Do you have the following skills

As a Project Manager - Spaceflight Oxygen Generation Systems you will

Perform project management for the research and development, manufacturing, and testing of advanced spacecraft high pressure oxygen generation systems and medical oxygen ventilation systems

Provide direction to matrix organizations in the requirements development, design, manufacturing, and testing of spaceflight oxygen generation hardware

Coordinate with other NASA centers and subcontractors for the testing of oxygen hardware

Perform project management functions in coordinating and supporting flight hardware products and systems development phases, such as design, procurement, fabrication, test, data analysis, implementation, certification, and flight/mission delivery

Perform cost estimating and management functions

Review essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports (DR), and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP), as needed

Plan and execute hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures

Plan and execute the development of prototype test articles, test support hardware, and flight hardware

Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions

Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Skills

This position has been posted at multiple levels Depending on the candidates experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level which this position has been advertised

BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and ten (10) years of direct engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and eight (8) years of direct engineering experience, or PhD and four (4) years of direct engineering experience
Must be able to review hardware manufacturing, assembly, and testing documents to process Class 1 flight hardware
Must have experience with JSC spaceflight hardware development processes and procedures
Must have a background in flight hardware development and testing
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines
Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field (including space flight hardware development and certification processes), such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, environmental testing, and office software
Must have the ability to visualize and work with complex mechanical and electrical systems and work with others in problem solving as part of a team
Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules and to work unsupervised for long periods of time

Preferences

Familiar with high pressure and low pressure oxygen generation methods and technologies, including electrolysis

Familiar with the ISS payloads processes and procedures

Familiarity with manufacturing methods and design for manufacturability and assembly

Experience with pressure vessel/fluid system design, assembly, and operation
