About the position

Our Transport group employs more than 8,000 professionals who support clients with innovative solutions to efficiently move people and goods across the globe We focus our efforts in Aviation, Bridge, Highway, Ports & Maritime, Planning Services, Transit & Rail and Tunnels

Based in Auckland and reporting to our Team Leader Construction Services, the Project Engineer would be responsible for assisting our project teams involved in managing surveillance, quality assurance and contract administration activities Some of the key responsibilities include

Assisting specialist (engineering, planning etc) teams with constructability, specification and contractual inputs during concept/design periods to ensure that the client will procure a project that is constructible whilst minimising the potential for cost, programme, health & safety and quality assurance risks
Monitoring the delivery of construction works to ensure that they are in accordance with the prescribed design, programme, quality, scope, contractual and client requirements; also, compile, monitor and update registers as required to enhance monitoring and QA
Assisting the client, Engineer to Contract and design teams with the assessment of payment claims, variations and the like; the provision of impartial site-based observation recording
Assisting in producing schedules of prices for proposal and variations
Acting as Engineers Representative or Assistant to the Engineers Representative

About you

Qualifications and skills required for this role include

Degree in Civil Engineering or Equivalent and eligibility for membership of a professional body such as Engineering New Zealand or equivalent
Significant relevant experience with at least 2 years in the management of construction work
A current motor vehicle Drivers Licence
Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and practices
Proven ability and demonstrated experience in contract management using NZS3910, dispute resolution, claims analysis and construction programs
Proven knowledge of construction principles and industry regulations
Strong technical understanding and experience in design, preparation of contract documentation, specifications, programs and project management
Good knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel & MS Project

The successful applicant may be required to work outside normal working hours, to travel on occasion and be regularly based on site
