In this role, you will manage the Operator Interface and Standard Industrial Computer product lines for Emerson Machine Automation Solutions This currently consists of the Quick Panel , RXI2 IPC, and RXI2 industrial monitors, web panels, and Panel PC product lines as well as future product expansions to fill gaps and reach new market segments The primary buyers for these products are end customers, integrators, and OEMs As the product manager, you will spend time with customers, channel partners, analysts, and Emerson sales and Service teams to understand the market needs, recommend product line investments, launch new offerings, and work across functions to enable the worldwide sales teams to be successful selling the products

This role requires tight coordination with Global Engineering, Sales, Marketing and the Supply Chain teams to ensure all aspects of the product line are working well together to sustain and grow the product line

Strong communication, technical, and listening skills are essential along with an ability to simplify numerous requests from the field into a set of targeted programs against unmet industry needs in order to differentiate the product portfolio and make it attractive to both OEM and end user buyers


Research, understand, and clearly articulate current product line strength and weaknesses vs competitive offerings This includes both technical and commercial views
Work closely with customers to look beyond individual feature requests and understand the base unsolved problems customers face
Understand latest technology driven innovations and how these could be used to drive further differentiation in the product line in the areas of IOT, Motion, and Edge Control
Work closely with Industry Marketing to target market segments with the best potential for long term revenue and margin expansion
Develop, review, and drive the business case for the product lines
Create and communicate the value proposition for the product and work cross functionally with related teams to ensure everyone is working to this common view
Develop product content for brochures, blogs, white papers and other outlets
Provide channel and sales training including competitive threats, related news, and a clearly differentiated value proposition
Hold sales training events throughout the year using both direct on site and indirect via web sessions as a way to constantly bring new material to the commercial teams
Hold training events for Emerson and Channel application engineers to develop expertise in the new product offerings and in developing simple yet effect solution architectures for customers

Additional Information

20 PERCENT Travel (Mostly within the US and some international)


Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of Product Management, Marketing, Sales or other relevant experience
Demonstrated presentation and training capabilities with ability to clearly, simply, and concisely communicate sophisticated technical concepts in the context of customer problems to solve
Ability to understand market segments, geographies, channel/sales team capabilities and develop and articulate a plan for enabling these teams to successfully sell MAS products
Demonstrated bias towards execution with speed
Ability to travel as required to reach and motivate the targeted audience
Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels in the organization
Understanding of multiple industry vertical needs for industrial automation projects in order to support development of industry specific content

Desired Characteristics

Strong oral and written communication skills
Experience across all forms of communication with understanding of where people go for information today Experience writing blogs and other forms of continuous communications
Thorough understanding of the Industrial Automation space, challenges faced, and clear understanding of customer buying processes
Experience with Industrial Computer and Operator Interface products
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Background with the Machine Automation Solution products such as QP
Demonstrated ability to think out of the box to defend and produce a differentiated offering
