Job Purpose

The Agency lending department consists of five core processes, Controls, Trade Support, Collateral Management, Settlements and Asset Servicing

The Trade Support team in Agency Securities Lending are a middle office team supporting the UK and Dublin Securities Lending trading desks

The Collateral team in Securities Finance is responsible for ensuring that all clients in the lending program have sufficient collateral to cover the securities we have lent out on their behalf

Job Background/context

Trade support

Monitoring client trading activity and ensuring securities lending does not negatively impact the settlement of client sales

Booking new loan positions resulting for corporate actions

Being first point of contact for borrowers who wish to return loans

Performing contract compart with our lending counterparts

Collateral Management

Analysts will ensure loans are collateralised prior to release and will also ensure all loans are continually collateralized throughout their lifecycle

Continued monitoring is required due to market price changes which cause the values of both loans and collateral to fluctuate

Collateral coverage is achieved through agreeing margin calls with the lending counterparties and subsequently submitting collateral requirements to external Triparty agents or delivering or receiving securities and cash in the market

The role requires daily interaction with the Trading desk, Trade Support, Settlements, the Client Executive team and also with external counterparties

Key Responsibilities

1Ensure that all clients in the lending program have sufficient and acceptable collateral
2Perform all securities instruction processing, pre-matching and fails monitoring for the securities lending clients
3Proactively monitor all failing trades
4Ensure all client queries are dealt with in a timely manner
5Prevent and resolve exceptional errors and escalate to management
6Have a clear understanding of our client needs eg timely settlements, accurate processing, process improvements and quick response time
7Manage all trading desk queries as and when required
8Liaise with settlement team at regular intervals to ensure correct client exposures are calculated
9Clearly understand department procedures and Audit requirements
10Ownership of clients and brokers static date with the GSLS system
11Assist in the on boarding of new and existing clients
12Assist with testing new system releases
13Daily management of all core reconciliations both internally and externally
14Assist in Ad-hoc tasks as required
15Assist in DAIS investment product
16Ensure management are made aware where they may be client noise
17Show leadership in absence of management
18Handle escalations from lower grades or newer persons on the team on behalf of the team leader
19Be able to take on additional tasks and ad hoc requests that TL or SM needs to delegate out to you including projects
20Assist in client presentations

Qualifications

Higher Education / A-Level equivalent or above - Work experience relevant to the role will be taken into account

Knowledge/Experience

Knowledge of Securities Lending would be an advantage

Knowledge of Citis internal systems such as Secore and Recon are desirable

Knowledge of market-wide systems such as Pirum and Equilend are also desirable but not essential
