Role Pre Enabling Works Planner

Reports to Enabling Works Planning Lead

Direct reports Pre Enabling Works Snr Project Manager

Role objective To provide Planning resource to the PEW Team to help inform The DCO process and Cost Estimating


Maintain schedules in Primavera P6 and consistency / alignment with approved WBS/OBS/CBS

Manage others to maintain P6 schedules to the required standard and as per the project controls handbook

Provide accurate and timely programme data to meet the PEW PM reporting calendar

Maintain currency of programme plans and schedules at Level 3 and below where not assigned to a third party (supplier)

Provide advice on the schedule impact of proposed change and integrate approved changes into baseline updates

Overseeing the progressing programmes, monitoring and reporting on project performance, highlighting deviations, providing early warnings and identifying and presenting project slippage recovery strategies

Validate construction methodologies, resource and cost loading, activity durations, schedule logic, float allocation and critical path identification within Contractor submissions in support of LTCs contract programme approval obligations

To hold health, safety and welfare (HSW) as a key project value and to participate in the creation, development and implementation of HSW strategies by the project leadership team

Previous experience

Seasoned planner with a track record of delivering projects to time, cost quality standards across all stages of project lifecycle

Demonstrable experience of successfully working in/adapting the philosophy of a One Team environment within an NEC contract context

In-depth understanding of NEC contract management with regards to programme acceptance criteria, how change is controlled and assessed, etc

Team oriented leader with the ability to work closely with peers, with the ability to delegate, motivate and empower individuals and teams

Examples of exercising sound judgement, leading and facilitating decision making on complex issues among multiple parties

To be able to work across diverse stakeholders

Educated to degree standard with a relevant second degree and membership of an appropriate professional body or equivalent work history

Demonstrable experience of working at a senior level within a major infrastructure project in a similar industry &/or to working in a matrix and dispersed team

Previous experience of writing the requisite reports associated with the development of the programme


Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders

To influence all levels in an organization to produce timely documents and previous experience of writing the requisite reports associated with the development of the programme

Exceptional interpersonal skills and personal resilience to working under stress/different styles of leadership/getting things done

Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel and proficient in Primavera P6
