General Description

Position Summary

As a member of the Payments Engineering team, the Payments Release Manager will be located in Plantation, FL, and is responsible for defining and maintaining the Payments Agile Release Train (ART) and the Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline In this role, the Release Manager will be responsible for integrating the associated tools and Configuration Management (CM) team, the Continuous Integration Test (CIT) team, and the Independent Verification and Validation Qualification (IVVQ) team into a cohesive team, underpinning the ART and subsequent product releases

The Payments ART supports the development of the Payments Product Portfolio, both for new product development and for ongoing product sustaining activities Our Payments product line provides security for Financial Technology (FinTech) digital payments within the Thales Cloud Protection & Licensing (CPL) portfolio and is the market leader worldwide

The Payments Release Manager will own the Release Management lifecycle, which includes scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases across the payments engineering team and payments portfolio The releases can be inclusive of application updates, operating system patches, security improvements, hardware upgrades, projects and programs Where necessary, you will provide tools and services to help product management and project teams manage and deploy releases into production

The Payments Release Manager will work closely with all functions within the local team including; product management, the scrum masters, and the systems, hardware, software, and security engineering teams to ensure that the pipeline evolves to support technical and product features required for the product roadmap The Payments Release Manager will work closely with the development scrum teams to understand the needs and limitations with the pipeline The Payments Release Manager, in collaboration with the discipline leads and systems architect, will drive the features and functionality that the ART development teams are responsible for implementing

The Payments Release Manager will be responsible for implementing and managing release processes for code through development, test, and production environments The Payments Release Manager works collaboratively with all participants in the Payments ART and with IT to improve the engineering processes and practices associated with continuously building, deploying, and updating software and environments The Payments Release Manager will assist in managing projects and interdependencies to ensure milestone adherence to ensure the integrity of the release is measurable

Essential/Key Areas of Responsibility Lead the successful evolving implementation of the Payments continuous delivery pipeline to support approved business and technical objectives
Lead the integration and consolidation of the engineering teams involved in the Payments ART to provide excellent automated product release management, synthesizing activity teams including tools and configuration management, CIT, and IVVQ
Lead continuous improvement opportunities for products, processes, and tools
Management, governance, and oversight of the Payments ART
Review the existing Payments release management processes, revise the Payments release strategy and define the optimal Payments release management process
Perform talent management and stakeholder engagement for ensuring transparency and control while encouraging continuous communications, sponsorship metrics, and optimization
Coordinate, collaborate, negotiate, plan and manage all release activities, scope, and forward planning of the release windows and cycles across the Payments portfolio
Continually work towards making improvements in the release process
Identify roadblocks, manage risks, and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality
Measure and monitor progress to ensure releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations
Coordinate release content and effort based on the Payments Program Board; features, escalations, and enablers
Manage relationships and coordinate work activities between different teams and locations
Conduct release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, and business Go/No-Go reviews
Provide automated release reporting, including release details and schedules
Work with internal teams and individuals to understand impacts of branches and code merges
Lead and co-ordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment and implementation plans and checklists
Maintain a release repository and manage key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
Mentor and coach Payments ART team members
Follow Company and R&D processes and procedures
Other related duties or tasks as assigned


Ability to work in a highly-collaborative and fast-paced environment with minimal direct supervision
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field with Masters degree in related field preferred
6 years of previous release and/or project management experience, (Solid understanding of project management principles preferred)
Formal training in Project Management and SAFe practices preferred
Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills
Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must
General PC knowledge including Microsoft Office
Understanding FinTech industry and encryption security solutions is a plus
Knowledge of Cloud-based REST APIs is a plus
Experience with agile development, SAFe is a plus
