If youre a good leader, able to motivate and you know a thing or two about hitting sales targets, youll be on your way to making a good Sales Manager Theres also a large degree of organization and planning because youll often be responsible for directing a team - or a department - of sales recruiters towards hitting those all important company sales targets Youll also be responsible if you dont

The bottom line is that youll be trying to hit targets by developing sales strategies and then motivating your team You- ll compile and analyze sales figures and also report back to senior managers Theres also plenty of room for imagination and initiative and you can go a long way by thinking ahead of your competitors or looking for new opportunities

The hours are usually typical office hours but you we need someone who is willing to put in the hours to make it happen Needless to say, it can be stressful but also directly financially rewarding


Achieving the Task

- To identify aims and vision for the Operation, purpose, and direction - define the activity (the task)

- To identify resources, people, processes, systems and tools (inc financials, communications, IT)

- To create the plan to achieve the task - deliverables, measures, timescales, strategy and tactics

- To establish responsibilities, objectives, accountabilities and measures, by agreement and delegation

- To set standards, quality, time and reporting parameters

- To control and maintain activities against parameters

- To monitor and maintain overall performance against plan

- To report on progress towards the Operations aim

- To review, re-assess, adjust plan, methods and targets as necessary

- To establish Time Keeping Standards & Adherence

- Utilize Timesheet and Accruals reports to minimise revenue loss and impact profits

Managing the Team

- Minimum 3 years of experience I team handling

- Target setting & direction to achieve results

- To establish, agree and communicate standards of performance and behavior

- To establish style, culture, approach of the team - soft skill elements

- To monitor and maintain discipline, ethics, integrity and focus on objectives

- To anticipate and resolve team conflict, struggles or disagreements

- To develop the collective maturity and capability of the team - progressively increase team freedom and authority

- To encourage the team towards objectives and aims - motivate the team and provide a collective sense of purpose

- Handling escalated complaints

Managing Individuals

- Target setting & direction to achieve results

- To understand the team members as individuals - personality, skills, strengths, needs, aims and fears

- To assist and support individuals - plans, problems, challenges, highs and lows

- To identify, develop and utilize each individuals capabilities and strengths

- To train and develop individual team members

- Develop individual freedom and authority

- Conducting HR related activities including; appraisals, probation reviews, 121 meetings, coaching sessions, holiday requests, self-certifications, return to work interviews and disciplinary where both applicable and appropriate
