Minimum Education Qualification GNM / BSc, - Nursing
Experience of which minimum worked 2 years in supervisory role
Minimum Experience 4 years

1 Management Role
Functions in a leadership and supervisory role for staff nurses
Responsible for assisting with supervision, direction and coordination of nursing personnel
Makes appropriate room and care giver assignments to optimize patient placement and workload balance throughout the shift
Develops objectives for the management of the unit
Ensure staff discipline
Works with the Nursing- HOD on improving patient care and customer satisfaction
Promotes environment of cooperation and mutual support to maintain focus on patient care; anticipates and supports needs of other staff
Must be able to communicate effectively, demonstrate delegation skill and develop good interpersonal relationship with patient, staff, physicians and visitors
Maintains quality of patient care including compliance with prescribed treatment and hospital policy
Utilizes all personnel available to obtain maximum patient care services
Evaluates work performed by all staff members and inform staff of information necessary to the performance of their jobs
Investigates and identifies nursing problems and grievances and assist in their solutions, reports resolved and unresolved results to the Nursing- HOD
Assists on orientation of new personnel and participate in continuing educational program and clinical nurse training
Conducts regular staff meetings with the staff
Prepared weekly duty Rota
Ensure to give adequate coverage of staff for 24 hrs
Operates the unit within budgeted levels of staffing, supplies and equipment-recommends staffing patterns and standard of Nursing Care
Reports and document all accidents / incident to patients, visitors or staff
Report promptly any unusual occurrence to the Nursing Supervisor/ Nursing - HOD eg medication errors, complaint, VIPs or staff admitted, etc
Performs extra duties when called upon especially on an emergency
Maintains up to date knowledge and practice of nursing trends and new developments in the health field
Coordinates health education program in the unit
Supervises other non-nursing personnel in the unit
Conducts periodical survey to ensure nursing care standards
Ensures patient care services according to established procedures and policies in the unit
Ensure assistance to doctors in procedures and other related duties
Meets patients regularly to ensure maximum care and ascertain need for additional or modified services
Supervises maintenance of records of nursing and medical treatment and related ervices carried out by nursing personnel
Ensures proper utilization of supplies and power to avoid wastage
Maintains adequate supplies and equipment for daily use and carry out periodic inventory
Assists in the safekeeping of valuables
Safeguards patients safety at all times
Ensures work place is always neat and clean
Acts promptly in emergency situation

2 Specific Unit Related Nursing Care
In liaison with Nursing Superintendent, Plan, develop and implement nursing activities which will have an impact on the delivery of Nursing Care to patients and families
Provides consultation to nursing staff in the areas of clinical expertise
Assumes the responsibilities of the Nursing superintendent as required by the department
Performs other duties as deemed necessary by nursing superintendent
Conduct regular visit to the area, so as to assess the needs of the various wards and departments
Report activities of assigned area to nursing superintendent, DMS and MS on daily basis
Help and support the Head Nurse in her managerial responsibility And proive help of nursing personnel to meet the shortage and maintain patient nurse ratio
Maintain a professional support with working colleagues and head of the department
Liaison with Nursing Superintendent on matters relating to patient care and personal working in the unit
Participate and evaluate continuing quality improvement activities of patients including audits and make recommendation
Arranges Nursing staff whenever free camps are conducted, supervises in obtaining all the required equipment, personnel and supplies
Arranges Escort Nurses for Ambulance Services used for patients
Co-ordinates and arranges with cleaning supervisors in general cleaning of room and floors
To ensure that Nursing goals ,policies and protocols are communicated to and understood by nursing personnel
Prepares daily census and Night report and mail to all HOD
Prepare incident report where ever is necessary by consulting concern HOD
To participate in quality improvement activities
Any other jobs assigned by superior
Note Initial 3 months employees will not be assigned direct responsibility, will work only under the supervision; on completion of 3 months, post competency assessment is done, if found competent he/she will be assigned direct responsibility
