The Keithley Primary Standards Laboratory is part of Keithley Instruments, a Tektronix Company Its main functions are to

Maintain Keithleys Primary and Secondary reference standards

Maintain and control measurement and test equipment (MTE) used for the design, production and calibration of Keithley product in Cleveland, including calibration of the Keithley Service Centers MTE

Calibrate Keithley product on behalf of the Keithley Service Center and China the Production facility for models requiring specialized equipment or processes

Provide Metrology support to the Keithley Product Line

Responsibilities and Duties Include

Performs duties to provide calibration and maintenance of primary and secondary laboratory standards

Performs manual and computer system-based verification procedures to assure instrument specification accuracy and compliance to ANSI-Z540 and ISO/IEC17025

Performs maintenance of all laboratory standards and test equipment

Disassembles electronic instrumentation and completes required minor repairs, or maintenance using basic hand tools and existing manuals and documentation

Utilizes test equipment, documentation and historical data, analyze circuitry and components to determine cause of malfunction for minor repairs

Records test data for all calibrated and repaired equipment as required

Analyzes historical test data to established possible performance trends

Reports defects observed during completion of calibration or maintenance procedures

Develops manual test procedures and assists in the development of automated test procedures

Participates as an active member of the Standards Laboratory team through contributions for continuous improvement, problem identification and resolution, and open communication

Responsible for observing and following all rules and practices of safety

Responsible for maintaining work area in a clean and orderly fashion

May work within the scope of other job classifications when necessary because of work load requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience

Associate degree (AS) in electronics or equivalent, completion of a formal measurement course or equivalent
Five or more years related experience/training or equivalent combination of education and experience, or ASQs Certified Calibration Technician certificate
Ability to read and interpret documents such as schematic diagrams, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to write routine reports
Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as instrument specification verification, involving percentages ( PERCENT ) or parts per million (ppm)
Requires good theoretical as well as practical background in electronics
Requires the ability to isolate and resolve problems associated with malfunctions or substandard performance
Position demands an individual possessing the desire to make precision measurements where very close attention to detail and accuracy are required
Position requires an operational understanding of Windows based computers, Word and Excel software, ability and willingness to become proficient with other calibration software platforms

Understanding of the principles and practices of traceability and other metrological concepts

Ability to apply uncertainty principles to measurements as outlined in the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM)
