Role Overview

The Materials Project Manager is responsible for managing projects, as a part of the organizational program and portfolio management framework, managing and executing the Landing Systems (LS) Materials Digital and Data Governance strategy and implementation road map, by site, based on business goals and objectives and supporting the maturity needs of the materials function at each site These projects will be digital solutions and process continuous improvement projects that require a structured and standard approach to ensure on time delivery and long term success for Landing Systems (LS) sites

Responsibilities include leading the implementation of projects and programs at LS sites Implementation shall include training, writing user acceptance testing (UAT) scripts, conducting user acceptance testing with resources, development of standard work, and training as required both at the site level as well as at the Central LS Materials Management level In addition, the Materials Project Team shall be considered the subject matter experts for all digital tools for the materials function, to include functionality and technical content as well as the relationship and impact across systems and processes in the materials value stream In addition, responsibilities include the understanding of site functional needs and requirements to identify solutions and best practice approach for implementing in compliance with the Landing Systems (LS) strategy

This role is a high-profile position and requires skilled management of projects and the ability to develop collaborative relationships between all LS sites and Corporate Leadership to ensure intersecting cross functional areas understand and support the required interface to the Materials Management function

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Functional Responsibilities

Professional and structured project management of Digital solutions for Materials
Subject matter expert regarding technology application across functional disciplines and a solid understanding of Digital concepts
Collaborate across sites and Central Materials Management organization to align policies with Digital tools
Identify misalignment between site requirements and Collins Aerospace or Central Materials Management standard functional or digital tool requirements and / or timing of implementation and provide recommendations to management
Identify and escalate potential areas of risk associated with critical functional interfaces at the site level associated with policy, process or SAP data elements and escalate with recommendations
Work with other information technology personnel to develop quality best practice standards
Serve as a liaison between functional areas regarding future technologies being considered to ensure that data related business requirements are not compromised
Support implementation of audit and compliance requirements for digital and data governance related activities to include timing and frequency of standard audits
Participate in developing executive presentation materials for Digital and Data Governance forums and Steering Committee meetings, as required
Promote a culture of collaboration and teamwork across organizational boundaries; willing to break down functional silos to optimize business results and encourage the overall growth and maturity of LS Materials Management function

General Responsibilities

Support achievement of ACE Gold activities, as required
Execute all tasks associated with the site macro plan objectives and site business plan, as required
Support training plans with on-going training and coaching provided as required
Initiate, lead, and / or participate in site level activities to include 5S, Kaizen, DIVE events, Six Sigma, and other related continuous improvement events as well as prioritize site level events
Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the EHS policy and management system, the importance of conforming to EHS policies and procedures and consequences of failing to comply with EHS policies and procedures
Continuously drive a Lean culture within the Materials Organization



BS in Business Management, Supply Chain Management or other related field and 7 years of prior relevant experience
OR Advanced degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience
A recognized project management certification is highly preferred or the ability to attain a certification within 1 year of hire
APICS Certification or equivalent is desired (CSCP, CPIM)
Requires intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Software (ie Excel, Visio, Project) as well as Business Intelligence Software or the ability to attain such skills
ERP experience is a must (SAP is preferred) to include MRO/Materials and Supply Chain


A minimum of 1-3 years of Materials Management expertise in a manufacturing industry
3 years experience in the implementation of PC based digital tools that interface with an ERP system, preferably SAP
