Job Description:

Objective of the position

To help generate awareness, increased visibility and understanding of the work being done by the organization to solve key problems in the areas of the education, health and livelihoods among media, government, private sector, civil society, donors, partners and other key stakeholders 

Major Deliverables

  • Develop and execution of Communications strategy

  • Leveraging organization leadership to implement communications strategies

  • Take a lead in editorial direction, design, production and distribution of the organization’s external publications

  • Take a lead on media strategies, drafting key messages, and delivering media plans (includes organizing project site visits, facilitating photo coverage and visual footage) to promote and safeguard our work

  • Take a lead in monitoring media, identifying opportunities to ensure rapid and accurate information to raise awareness of DRF and its work

  • Lead the generation of online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action Decide who, where, and when to disseminate

  • Play a key role in the organizing press conferences, issuing press releases & briefings as and when necessary

  • Manage the development, updating, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, social media accounts and website

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key journalists, key national, regional print titles, digital and broadcast media

  • Support the Head of Communications and other managers in the team on additional ad-hoc media projects with high communication value when required and in creation of their own communication materials (documents, pitch documents, brochures, event materials)

  • Ensure the right appearance of all organization print and electronic materials such as letter heads, use of logo, brochure’s etc

  • Establish regular and positive working relationships with communication colleagues in partner organizations, including PR agencies, other not for profit

  • Dealing with unanticipated media queries and initiatives as appropriate

  • Gather and manage high quality images that can be used in our communications

  • Liaise with external designers on the creation of communications collaterals

  • Responsible for the achievement of communication goals and financial objectives Ensure relevant evaluation systems related to the goals are in place 

  • Develop short- and long-term plans and budgets for the communications program and its activities, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance
