Roles & Responsibilities
A successful candidate will
Be responsible for the end to end ownership of a diverse QA team, including setting the technical vision for developing test frameworks and automation for our systems to serve Amazon Business needs
Build and manage SDETs and QAEs that are responsible for developing and maintaining software for testing our products
Be a champion of quality and operational excellence establish team metrics for measurement of quality and operational excellence and a consistent, regular process for assessment and improvements
Establish a consistent, project management framework and excellent development processes to deliver high quality software, in rapid iterations, for business partners in multiple geographies
Show strong business and technical judgment that will accelerate time to market of releases, while incrementally moving our services towards the long term vision
Be responsible for mentoring and developing engineers
Raise the bar on technical excellence, show thought leadership, and communicate well to different audiences
Stays abreast of innovations (eg, product, development and quality practices/tools, technology advancements) occurring internally and externally in industry Uses that knowledge to inspire big ideas, invent, evolve, improve, simplify, etc
Understands various development and test methodologies; adopts the best approach to yield the highest team efficiency and innovation potential
Understands industry technologies in software domain and how to apply those technologies to solve problems
Uses designs, domain expertise and architecture to inform test plans
Establishes and/or streamlines quality metrics, development, test, and operational excellence best practices
Develops test strategies for non-functional areas (eg, security, performance, load, scalability, usability, etc)
Is able to holds a QA team to a high standard for both solutions and practices Supports high-quality development
Assesses the testability of components/features built by development teams Is able to ensure code is tested at the appropriate level (unit test, integral/functional, UI, etc), reducing unnecessary test cases at higher levels
Can work with a product owner and development team to establish a quality bar
Partners with peer managers to address the root cause of cross-functional issues
Is able to effectively prioritize test automation
Dives deeply into technical details with engineering teams and contributes to technical discussions

Qualification
Bachelors degree and/or Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent
12 Years of experience in technology
A minimum of 5 years of management experience
A minimum of 10 years of relevant testing experience
Focus on automation in a product development organization
Has experience writing automated scripts (eg shell, Bash, Perl, Python, Java)
Experience in testing high-performance, highly-available and scalable distributed systems
Experience with a number of different programming languages and test automation technologies
Can juggle testing of multiple releases with multiple dependencies
Experience with employee development, performance management and delivering results
Problem-solving skills and the abilities to analyze quantitatively, scope technical requirements and effectively prioritize program deliverables
Presentation and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build partnerships with senior leaders across a variety of groups throughout Amazon
