Job Description:

Project implementation 60%
Acts as a key contact point for all project related queries including build, testing and implementation
Leads in the completion of testing for projects and provide technical explanations of findings
Supports less experienced colleagues through the entire project process from testing through to implementation
Able to understand and articulate technical issues to a non-Mainframe/non-technical audience
Provides comprehensive technical verbal updates of project status to team and produce non-technical written updates for project managers and business
Represents Mainframe area at project meetings and provide any inputs to help plan projects
Provides architecture solutions to the project which are in line with new technologies and able to communicate benefits of it

Change/Incident/Problem Management/Support 40%
Able to work as a consultant for all change implementation processes, challenges other colleagues changes by sharing personal experience Clearly identifies the risk and impact if the change goes wrong Plans and leads major implementations
Proactive identification of possible major incidents Provide s the governance, technical authority, leadership and direction necessary for the resolution of technical issues
Provides input into complex changes, teaching colleagues from own methodologies
Proactively delivers on activities and tasks assigned to them within the SLA to avoid any missed deadlines
Provides in-depth verbal and/or written updates to customers on change progress
Provides expert guidance on the change process for team and projects
Analyses complex changes and ensure the more effective resolution is selected to resolve
Assists with the resolution of complex problems and/or incidents
Communication skills are essential to ensure team and kept fully up to date with any ongoing incidents which could affect service
Uses own initiative to make decisions on how best the resolve incidents and/or problems to mitigate impact on service
Understanding customer needs and priorities to providing high quality services Has considerable latitude for making decisions within the team Well known and recognised by local leadership team
Provides 24*7 operational support (on-call)
Supplier management of internal and external infrastructure
Managing and delivering service improvements

Previous experience in Assembler and COBOL programming languages (desirable)
Good understanding of IT operating systems and hardware
Able to work under pressure
Strong stakeholder management skills
Previous experience working with such tools Data Studio, DB2 CA, DB2 connect and IDAA (desirable)
Several years practical experience working as a DB2 Database Administrator,
