POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Firefighter is responsible for responding to emergencies during designated and assigned Emergency Response shift of a 24/7 Fire Station in accordance with the performance work statement Functional work includes, but is not limited to, providing guidance to Firefighters, responding to emergency calls, investigating fires, training personnel, and completing required reports to assure the daily operational effectiveness of the department The qualified candidate shall report to the Assistant Chief of Operations and work with a team of fire services support personnel

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES

Responsible for responding to emergencies as a Lead Firefighter and ensure the team adheres to NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling, NFPA 101 Life Safety Codes and the AFI 32-2001 Fire Prevention Program

Responsible for communicating and upholding company standards, leading by example, and working as a team to provide guidance to firefighters and support personnel

Completes required reports and documentation as outlined in the performance work statement

Ensure the maintainence of vehicles, equipment, tools, and protective clothing in a serviceable ready-response condition

Operates pumps, foam generators, boom and ground sweeps nozzles, and other similar equipment as needed

Uses a variety of special protective gear in situations where poisonous gases, radioactive materials, and hazardous biological products are involved

Exercises caution to avoid team and personal injury and property damage

Protect and preserve evidence indicating incident cause for investigation

Implements and follows operational policy, procedures and assists in the development of contingency plans

Responsible for following a comprehensive quality and safety program in compliance with Vectrus, OSHA and United States Air Force (USAF) requirements
Responsible for following a comprehensive, flexible, and properly documented training program
Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, sanitary, healthy, presentable, professional atmosphere, free of dust, clutter and trash in all working facilities and areas
Responsible for proper utilization and safeguarding of all government and contractor provided property (eg, to include government facilities, equipment and tools)
Responsible for precise execution of company time reporting procedures and accurate completion of timesheet
Performs other duties as assigned

MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED

Fire fighting apparatus, tools, ladders, equipment, and systems

Personal computer, printer, calculator, FAX machine, copy machine and other general office equipment Operates specialized fire vehicles/equipment May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions that require wear of hard hats, gloves, steel toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses and other personal protection equipment (PPE); may be required to push, pull and lift heavy equipment Use of portable or vehicle equipped radios to maintain contact and accountability of work activities

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work will be indoors and outdoors Exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, chemicals may occur Overtime and shift work may be required depending on contractual needs Employee must comply with all Federal, State and Local regulations and published Company work rules as well as written instructions Task specific work environment training will be provided as required Must be prepared to function in a wartime environment to support U S interests 100 PERCENT Overseas Assignment

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

Physical requirements include lifting up to 35lb, team lifting up to 50lbs, climbing, extended sitting, or standing, stooping, stretching, and bending Occasional climbing and working in high places may be required

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certifications One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required

High School graduate with 2-3 yrs experience or Associates degree - equivalent related work experience

Must be Fire Officer I certified, Fire Instructor I certified, Fire Inspector I certified, and Airport Fire Fighter certified

Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association or Red Cross

Must pass and maintain entry-level physical examination in accordance with NFPA 1582

Must have a current, valid U S Passport and Drivers License (able to drive manual transmission)

Must have and maintain a valid U S SECRET Security Clearance prior to deployment

Must be able to pass a flight line access test and obtain flight line access badge

Must be able to pass employment and deployment qualification requirements that include psychological, medical, dental, drug

testing and background checks

Candidates must successfully complete both online and hands-on CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) defense

training Training includes the successful fit testing of DOD provided protective gear

Experience

Five years fire fighting experience in the US Military, DOD or civilian

Skills

Must be proficient with Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point

Fluent in English with good verbal, reading, and writing skills

Performs all tasks IAW verbal and written instructions to the established standards

Able and willing to work periods of long hours to meet mission requirements

Military experience in a contingency environment and knowledge and experience working with government contracts preferred
