JSEG Senior Accountant shall be responsible for

Providing accounting support to Team Lead in the following processes and their compliance with GAAP, CAS and FAR; general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, travel reimbursement, financial audit support, and project accounting
Supporting closing financial books of record on a monthly basis; billings on government contracts; Business Office on accounting issues; supporting multiple tasks with critical deadlines and other assignments as required
Developing monthly corporate financial deliverables
Providing inputs to requirements documents and contractual documents
Preparing rough drafts of documents for review utilizing automated systems to track and suspense the process
Creating and maintaining records, responding to customer inquiries, assisting in evaluating/developing both
Working independently in collecting, developing, preparing, and editing documents, charts, graphs, reports, and presentations for senior level review and approval
Interpreting account balances and records
Supporting the development of financial data to include monthly and quarterly forecasts, revenue projections and/or cost / benefit analyses
Contributing in the automation of financial deliverables
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

BS degree in Business or Accounting (or a related field) with a minimum of 9 years work related accounting experience supporting the accounting operations in a government contracting environment is required Must be knowledgeable of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Cost Account Standards (CAS), the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance

Senior Accountant special requirements are as follows
Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, analytical, documentation, and interpersonal skills
Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), government regulatory guidelines, particularly provisions of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFAR)
Requires a background in monthly financial closing process to include GAAP accounting and Government prime contract reporting and financial deliverables
Understanding in accounting functions such as receivables, payables, general ledger, balance sheet and cash flow
Proficiency in the use and integration of Microsoft Office applications, automated accounting systems and purchasing systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required with an ability to communicate effectively with peers and all levels of management
Detail, accuracy oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast paced, integrated team management environment
Familiar with NASA financial reporting
Requires a background in Government prime contract reporting and financial deliverables
High integrity and professional demeanor are required
Experience dealing with a wide variety of contract issues in the Federal Government
Supervisory experience preferred

Physical Requirements

Office environment Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100 PERCENT ) Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100 PERCENT ) Work may involve sitting for extended periods (80 PERCENT ) May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary

Work Environment

Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task (100 PERCENT ) Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and Jacobs facilities (10 PERCENT )

Equipment and Machines

Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100 PERCENT )

Attendance

Normal workday is from 730 am through 430 pm, Monday thru Friday Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required (100 PERCENT )

Must be able to work in a team atmosphere Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others (100 PERCENT ) The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100 PERCENT )
