Role

Responsible for the development of software systems and solutions to provide Global License and Advisory Services business/IT alignment
Provides technology knowledge to the business management team ensuring the best use of technology to meet the business requirement and ensure the systems stay up to date with technology and industry best practices
Supports the activities of maintaining and enhancing the existing and new GLAS applications

Scope

Works for the Technical Engineer team
Reports to the Software Development Manager
Works with Project Managers and Global Process Owners within GLAS Global Operations Team to define the scope of the developed applications

Responsibilities
Specifies, develops, tests and implements changes to existing and newly required business technology systems and solutions
Creates computer programs in line with predefined specifications
Validates installations, configuration and accurate functioning of developed software applications in accordance with GLAS internal standards and procedures
Builds code and unit tests for moderate and complex programs
Contributes to designs of new architecture for a product/part of a product
Provides technical escalation support to the Global License and Advisory Services business
Creates and updates technical requirement documentation for all systems and solutions
Works closely with the project manager and assigned project team to review and ensure the on time delivery of complex IT solutions
Translates business needs to viable deliverable technology
Informs and provides regular updates on the activity results to the direct Manager

Qualification
BA/BS degree (or equivalent) in a technology, engineering or similar discipline
Minimum 3-4 years experience in IT &C Industry, Software Development
Experience in developing web applications
Experience of Unix/Linux and/or Windows operating system essential
Basic Knowledge of SQL (experience with a least one DBMS is a plus)
Good knowledge of Java programming language
Knowledge of J2EE (JSF, Servlet, Web Service, EJB)
Working experience with an application server ( Weblogic , Tomcat , Jboss, Websphere)
Working experience with OracleADF or OpenSource frameworks Struts / Hibernate / Spring / Ajax / React / NodeJS / Angular etc
Unix Shell scripting and MS-DOS batch programming will be a plus
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Ability to work to deadlines both independently and within a team environment
Must be enthusiastic, creative and able to learn quickly new things/technologies

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area 7 years of software engineering or related experience
