MS Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology

Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology is the global technology department responsible for the design, development, delivery and support of the technical solutions behind the products and services used by the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) business The department is comprised of 10 organizations Sales, Banking & Corporate-Client Technology, Investment Products & Markets Technology, Client Reporting, Core Processing, Private and International Wealth Management Technology, Technology Integration Office, Enterprise Infrastructure & Production Management, Capital Markets Application & Data Services, Deployment Planning & Release Management, and the Chief Operating Office

Department Profile

The Data Services Production Support team is responsible for managing the production environment and ensuring the stability of applications used by Wealth Management financial advisors and Wealth Management Business and Operations teams of Morgan Stanley The team is responsible for providing swift, courteous, and knowledgeable customer service to end users of the production systems This position is focused on user and systems support, reaching out to end users with technical issues, monitoring systems alerts, and taking corrective action Technical understanding is important as well as the ability to speak to users and understand their problems In addition to direct user support tasks, the team performs infrastructure related tasks including process configuration, hardware capacity planning, event management, release work, and support tool development to ensure any repetitive tasks are packaged to remove any element of risk

Position Description

The Data Services ASG team is looking for a Senior Java Developer with experience in building high-performing, scalable, enterprise-grade applications The candidate will work as part of a global multi-discipline team (BA, Dev, QA and Infrastructure), and will be part of a talented software team that works on mission-critical Account Management applications Java developer roles and responsibilities include creating high quality code while adhering to development best practices, ensure developed code is in alignment with system architecture and integration design standards; working with an enterprise framework and actively contribute and participate in design and architecture discussions, daily stand-ups, and Agile Sprint planning sessions


Responsibilities & Required Skills

5 - 8 years of experience

Excellent problem solving skills

Strong object oriented design skills, knowledge of data structures and algorithms, and multi-threaded system design

Core Java, Spring, Restful Web Services, and IBM Websphere MQ Series

Building server-side applications using J2EE Technologies

Proficient with database technologies (Teradata, UDB, DB2), including modelling and performance tuning

Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments

Experience with JUnit, Test Driven Development (TDD) using Concordion framework, and Behavior Driven Development using Cucumber and Gherkin

Competency with source control (preferably Git) and Continuous Integration tools such as Jenkins

Good communication skills

Self-motivated individual

Desired Skills

Development knowledge of working within an Agile framework using JIRA

Experience in the financial services domain, with knowledge of client and account related software and applications is a plus

Must be able to quickly learn and be hands-on, understanding complexity and ins-and-outs of systems the candidate is aligned to, as well as size/scope and impact of projects to these systems
