Role Overview

Objective

The Instrument Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and continual support of instrumentation, controls, and control systemsThis position will provide support for the installation, operation, maintenance, and upgrade of plant wide equipment and support processesThe position also involves taking an active role in plant wide operations, preventative maintenance, and maintenance management functions

Primary Responsibilities

Support Facility Wide Instrumentation and Controls

Ensure that all tags in the control systems conform to the facility standards
Utilize ProCal Calibration Management Software (CMS)
Develop and continuously improve Preventative Maintenance activities
Ensure that all tags in the control systems conform to the facility standards

Support DCS Control system

Utilize Delta V diagnostic tools for monitoring Delta V system health
Understand and be able to specify control system and control components
Understand and troubleshoot bus communications

Replacement/repair of malfunctioned control equipment Setup & bench top calibration of new control equipment

Support DCS Control system, and Plant wide automation, instrumentation, and controls

Support instrument calibrations as necessary Understand control system interoperability

Specifying, soliciting quotes and ordering new and replacement equipment

Support project engineers and technicians with equipment troubleshooting and startup

Qualifications

Experience Required

2 years of direct experience with instrumentation calibration, controls, automation and facilities maintenance Experience should include at least 2 years of electrical instrumentation maintenance
Experience with the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs

Skills Required

Instrument and transmitter calibration experience
Ability to read and understand P&IDs and Electrical Cabinet Drawings
Have a working knowledge of computer / control system networking
Knowledge of operation, process utilities and controls is required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
Ability to advance to Instrumentation Technician II

Preferred Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
This position requires either
An AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experienceIn the absence of a HS diploma, GED or AA/AS degree, 8 years of relevant experience is required OR
A Bachelors degree in the appropriate discipline and 2 years of relevant experience
