This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company

POSITION SUMMARY

Performing routine maintenance activities on tactical communication equipment Must be able to quickly assess problems and either make the necessary repairs or manage the repair Technician must be able to work with little or no supervision

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES

Perform services and inspections as required by the technical manual for that equipment

Repair and perform preventive maintenance checks and services on tactical communication equipment

Troubleshoot and repair tactical communication systems

Use facilities management software

MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED

Use Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment ieGRM-122 test set, multimeter, power supply system and Soldering work station

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work performed in the field Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform light to moderate physical work in appropriate weather conditions, use varied hand and power tools, drive a motor vehicle and/or heavy construction equipment; lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pound and heavier weights with use of proper equipment

Must possess vision to read printed materials and computer screens; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone

Must be available to work during regular business hours and on call when unit is in training cycle

Must be able to travel 10 PERCENT of the year

May performing work in conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing sand and dust, and working in confined spaces and at heights

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds

Perform other duties as required that may involve working overtime, weekends, flexible hours and being on call

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certifications

High School diploma or equivalent

Use Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), Test Program Sets (TPS), and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) to determine the cause and location of malfunctions, extent of faults, and category of maintenance required

Inspect equipment for faults, and completeness Test equipment to determine operational condition Troubleshoot to determine location, and extent of equipment faults

Repair equipment by adjusting, aligning, repairing, or replacing defective components

Tests repaired equipment to ensure compliance with technical specifications

Evacuates equipment and components to higher level repair activities based on the Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC) Prepares appropriate maintenance forms and records

Logs maintenance in accordance with The Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS)

Maintain authorized spare parts, supply stock, tool lists, technical manuals, and instructional material

Perform preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) on TMDE, vehicles, and power generators

NACI Investigation required

Must have a valid drivers license

Specific contractual requirements regarding education and experience prevail where applicable

Preferred 92E20 or 3-year of related job experience
