Job Description:

Responsible for the repairs, maintenance, upkeep and replacement of the propertys refrigeration and heat/air conditioning equipment, in accordance with hotel standards, and in compliance with the city/state/federal inspection codes (ie health and sanitation, fire/life safety, etc) Participate in the preventive maintenance program of all building equipment, guestrooms, meeting rooms, ballrooms, and all areas of the hotel (ie laundry/valet, kitchens, stewarding, restaurants, outlets, fitness center, pool, carriage entrance, etc) Will assist in other areas of Engineering as assigned

Summary of Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following

Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service
Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards
Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment Use equipment only as intended
Maintain complete working knowledge and understanding of all the systems (ie electrical distribution and lighting, TV antenna, fire/life safety and emergency generator, central plant, swimming pool, laundry/valet, kitchen HVAC and refrigeration, etc) associated with the all hotel operations/maintenance
Anticipate guests needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day
Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction
Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization, and safe condition of assigned work areas
Receive daily work assignments from Chief Engineer/Supervisor and review priorities and special projects
Organize materials, tools and equipment to perform daily assignments
Maintain time lines and work schedule in accordance with the preventive maintenance program
Check work orders and Engineering department service request log for maintenance deficiency problems Make rounds checking these problem areas and note any information needed or safety concerns in the hotel
Schedule work in accordance with preventive maintenance program in rooms, coordinating with the Director of Housekeeping and Front Office
Maintain par stock levels of standard fixtures and other supplies

Qualifications

Previous experience is an asset
1-2 years experience as a Mechanic II
Complete working knowledge of the systems associated with the guestrooms/meeting rooms operations/maintenance
Working knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC equipment
Knowledgeable of plumbing, electrical, appliance operational problems and mechanical background
Knowledgeable of physics, and able to read gauges
Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to)

Constant standing and walking throughout shift
Exert physical effort in transporting miscellaneous items (ie motors, tools, equipment, materials, etc) (50-150 pounds) throughout all areas of the hotel
Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas
Reach 1-2 feet, predominately over the head
Remain in stationary position for 30 minutes - 2 hours throughout work shift
Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding
